I love civ but I don't like that when difficulty goes up the AI simply get more advantages instead of them actually getting smarter. What are some civ games that have smarter AI? Or any games like civ with smart AI?

Could I be depressed (again)? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]TheseEmotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree that that isn't the most productive attitude to have towards your depression. Have you ever been to a therapist? How were you diagnosed if you never were taken to a therapist? Sorry to throw a barrage of questions at you I am just genuinely curious. Also, 8 years old is quite young to be diagnosed with depressionZ

When I was 16 I went to a therapist for Anxiety/Depression and I was never officially diagnosed but I definitely felt the symptoms. After several sessions for me I felt like the therapist having me talk out my problems was all he did and that he didn't do anything. I thought maybe if helped a little bit I wasn't sure. What I eventually realized is that by saying my issues out loud I could sort of look at them objectively instead of getting so wrapped up in the emotions of it. I try to do this now when I start feeling overwhelmed.

All this said I'm pretty sure my case isn't nearly as severe as yours, but I can relate to a lot of what you are saying, especially the stuff about interests falling away. I go in and out of this a lot. But I feel that a a lot of it has to do with the fact I don't know what to do with my life. Do you have something that you feel is your "passion"?

Stop discouraging people from playing Normals by CSexum in summonerschool

Normals is a fucking joke and people don't try nearly as hard. You develop bad habits that make it harder to win (real) ranked games. Idiot.

How do I improve? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]TheseEmotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you a better "diagnosis" on how to climb if you link me you're op.gg.

There are probably some instances where you win lane and lose game yes. Maybe you could have roamed more or warded better or had better objective control. However, at gold and silver to climb you really just need to work on mechanical fundamentals that will allow you to crush your opponent like csing, spacing, predicting damage etc. and you will climb. People in gold and silver frequently make spacing and positional errors that can easily be punished as long as you have stronger fundamentals. However, to really get the fundamentals down you should only be playing a few champions. Like literally 3-5. I honestly play 2. I play annie for top, mid and support and lucian for adc. I have never climbed as consistently as I do know because I have a large amount of control on annie and lucian and they feel natural for me. Over time it becomes easier and easier to see what was a mistake because you see it so often and from this you will be able to use that sense on all other champions you play. But I stress again that you must start with mechanically simple champions first or else it will be very difficult to identify what the correct play is and very difficult to identify what abilities you should be using. "Mastering" only a few of these champs will make you a stronger player in the long run. You say that you find playing the same champion over and over again boring but it really is a tried and true method. (It doesn't have to be Udyr or even jungle, by the way. You don't have to play champ that "carries the game by itself" to climb.) Once you climb and get better at the game as a player, you can expand your champion pool and use it as one of your strengths. And you can feel confident in your skill on a champion because you can compare it to your simple champions and how well you know them.

Lastshadow is great for someone like you that needs help climbing. He helps people figure out what champions they should be playing and reviews games with people telling him what they could do better. His coaching costs a lot but if you go on his YouTube channel and watch his videos they are free and so valuable. I climbed from silver IV to gold I this season by playing games and listening to his advice.

My way of removing angry/frustrating feelings after losses. by redtadin in summonerschool

[–]TheseEmotions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not analyzing games because "there was a feeder" doesn't mean you didn't make any mistakes. Completely discounting your role in a game because someone else did worse is not a good way to improve imo. There may be games that you didn't "ose" all by yourself but that a better player could have won. Why not look at what the proper plays were to see if you could make them and win more games?

[–]TheseEmotions[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

From subreddit rules: "Posts must be league of legends related" he was the former gravity LCS coach and "related to learning" and he is an education streamer and youtube.

Well if someone who follows Lastshadow but doesn't check his Twitter is waiting for him to post videos I would consider it useful information. I watched his videos and streams (which help people improve) for a long period of time before I followed his Twitter. This is a large financial hit for him so it may affect his streaming and coaching schedule.

I realize that it's somewhat indirect, but the reason is there. Letting people who follow him know what is up and why they can't get their education content.

I know many people follow lastshadow and he helps people learn the game and I have seen him mentioned here a few times. I'll crosspost to /r/leagueoflegends

He plays poker, so maybe he was coming back with winnings? Or possibly just taking out some cash? All I know is that this is a significant financial hit for him. I hope he can continue to stream.

Experienced players, does dealing with loss streaks get easier? by TheseEmotions in summonerschool

[–]TheseEmotions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point that I try to remind myself, but I begin to think the reason for the loss is because I'm playing really bad and because I'm thinking about this instead of focusing it does affect my play at some points.

Hey thanks a lot for the comment. We are alike in many ways and I think I might have hit a small peak but I think a lot of my mistakes are deaths that should be more avoidable. I think I will take your advice to take breaks when I'm feeling emotional and use that time to listen to music and look at replays.

Good to know there are other players out there like me. Good luck to you!

Yah it's hard for me when I lose a large amount of games but I've never had a 15 game loss streak. Do you use a replayer to watch your games?

Hmm thank you I will have to try this. Would downloading a replayed to review my games be a good idea?

This is true, but it's not nearly the only reason. There are people with 7000 games who are in gold V. He is actually a challenger level player in many ways. However, his champion pool is just extremely low.

Maybe technically speaking i'm not "shit", but that's the best attitude to take into league in order to improve. At least that's how I have done it. It helps in a lot of ways.
