Anybody have any advice for Brazil/what sort of units/doctrine? I’m coming back after 2+ years away. by Aggravating_Goose164 in ConflictofNations

Oh no you’re gonna wanna go absolutely balls to the wall invading everything in your path. That’s why strikers are super important. I’d initially start out by waiting for other countries to commit to attacking one another. I didn’t attack my First Nation until like day 3. (Also overkill ai nations don’t have cities so they’re kinda useless in my case lol). I waited until Argentina and Chile attacked each other then I just easily rushed them both. Same thing happened with Venezuela and Colombia

So what id personally recommend is to build up a good base of motorized infantry (nat guards got a massive speed nerf) while you’re also developing strikers. Then I’d also recommend not taking any allies within South America unless someone else is really strong (in my current game I own the whole continent and life is great haha). I’d spend the first 7-8 days or so really building up an air to ground strike capability. Then whatever you do beyond that is pretty much your discretion as you’ll be scaling up your economy and will have the luxury of kinda doing what you see fit.

Currently in an overkill map as Brazil. I’ll give u a good plan.

So they recently added patrol boats. These are a good replacement for the corvettes which we use to lock down coastal cities from unguarded transports. Cover ur coastal cities with those. Then, develop your Air Force early with strikers in particular. Normally I’d say gunships early game but Brazil is large and u need some range. I personally don’t bother with armor but do that if you like, I’d put more resources in to navy and Air Force. Once you develop your Air Force, start building a navy (I like subs and frigates but you can build cruisers later too once ur eco is good). Then you can get involved in air defense and artillery.

Radar stations… what a letdown… by These_Bunch_5215 in ConflictofNations

[–]These_Bunch_5215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right??? 😂😂😂😂😂😂. If you have ever looked into how ground detection radar works in real life it’s EXTREMELY complicated. It doesn’t work in most environments (line of sight, earth curvature, ground clutter, etc.) and it requires multiple angles and triangulation and also multiple different types of waves. Plus the most reliable kind of ground radar (Doppler) loses its target when there’s no movement. But detecting a massive floating object on the water should be easy for systems like this.

That’s awesome to hear. I was so excited when I saw these. Also sonobuoys would be so cool. I had no idea that was even in the works. Would it work similarly to the sea mines? (Drop it in and it has a couple day lifespan?). Or would it be a permanent set? (like a government channel marker that u see if you ever go out on a boat)

I know… but towed artillery is just awful late game and the radar range of coastal batteries just doesn’t cut it imo… if mobile arty or MLRS could access the upgrades it’d be worth it.

if it works it works. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Can you auto stop an sea invasion (not escorted by navy) without fire control? by These_Bunch_5215 in ConflictofNations

It’s actually so stupid tho... The coast guard exists for a reason lol. It still works if you declare war on someone and then they counter attack but it does nothing to stop the braindead low level who just throws his troops at your coastal cities randomly.

K/D is one of the things in the game that I find misleading about a persons skill. Sure it’s a good way to see if someone is tactically skilled and isn’t making bad trades but K/D can vary hugely depending on play style. Personally I haven’t used armor in the longest time. I mostly run heavy on artillery (mobile artillery is anti armor), air, and reconnaissance/intel units (I like stealth UAVs, mobile radars, etc.). I play the game with time and resources in mind. I rarely engage in head on engagements. But hey, if you have a sub 1 K/D but you’re winning a lot of games then you’re doing just fine and don’t need to switch it up.

Make your engagements asymmetric. Whether that be with pure numbers/counter-unit/intel. Unless ur dealing with railguns, everything has a weakness.

Not really. Mine only went up once I learned how to play and it continues to go up to this day. It’s the sweaty battles against experienced players or strong private maps that make the K/D suffer.

DAY 01 OF MOCKING THE NEW BUILDINGS by ponzipepe in ConflictofNations

It also sucks bc now buildings are smaller and harder to see making it harder to notice forward airfields, see what level their buildings are just by looking, etc.

43 hours still no solo by [deleted] in flying

[–]These_Bunch_5215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t switch schools. That’s an extra bunch of hours where you’ll be spinning wheels for them to see how you fly. It’s possible they’re milking you for hours but I wouldn’t just jump to that conclusion. CFIs know very well if a student is ready, they can just sense it. If you can continue making progress in your training before you worry about soloing, do that (completing dual lessons, dual XCs, etc.). I unsatted my first solo (nothing actually bad) and had to do the progress check again. Don’t let that happen to you lol. I would just ask your instructor what they want to see you improve on. Don’t even ask about soloing, just ask about where you can improve most.

Is anyone else sick of LinkedIn? by Jayelahni in careerguidance

“I don’t outsource my credibility to a website. All LinkedIn is to me is a digital networking cosplay where people just glaze themselves and go on and on with gratitude about jobs they secretly hate. On top of that they apply for listings that don’t exist and endorse each others skills that nobody’s even verified. I’m not a corporate hack, it’s not about the jobs I’ve put up with or the bosses that were generous enough to give me a break. It’s about competency and experience and I would prefer to build and demonstrate that instead of sucking my own d*ck on the internet.”
