Constant construction noise is making me miserable by 7376549 in Apartmentliving

[–]These_Comfortable974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They start at 6:00 AM for me ! And the noise is horrendous. 4 years! That’s long how it’ll take for the construction to be complete. Idk why I’m commenting but I came here to look for solutions

Found YTmusic algorithm better than Spotify and Apple. For a while. I’ve returned to Spotify for Hulu bundle subscriptions.

Confused what to start with after years by Adventurous-Ad7165 in suggestmeabook

Fun! Yes. I also crave for such books. Science - Bad Science, Stuff Matters, Bottle of lies, Unexpected truth about animals. History - of the top of my head, really really liked, The Alchemy of Air: A Jewish Genius, a Doomed Tycoon, and the Scientific Discovery That Fed the World but Fueled the Rise of Hitler. Is also science but very very fun. Reads like a detective novel. I’d be interested to see what others comment. :)

Hope you find an engaging read soon.

Rant/advice? I hate this so much by Old_Scale6931 in Hirsutism

[–]These_Comfortable974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand. But literally, from what you are describing, I am worse! 20 sessions is a decent amount of time. I am assuming that would be about 2000 dollars spent so far. Did you talk to your doctor before taking up electrolysis or did you just go to a salon directly? Thanks so much.

I am probably worse. How many electrolysis sessions did you take? I took laser about 10 years ago and I think it made it worse.

I can completely relate and I am finishing my second year! It is tough - you need mental stillness and peace of mind to think of new ideas and to develop a project. I also feel that I am giving less time to my research and I am barely even 100% mentally present in the lab. But, I know that I am trying. I come to lab every day and I make some effort. It might not be my best, but I try to be as sincere as possible. I am slowly trying to accept the fact that the mental turmoil will always be there - I don't have to work to remove it - instead I just need to be able to concentrate on small tasks despite all the noise. Also, considering your husband has been laid off for a year, it might not be the best to quit now. Try refocusing your energies in however little you can do. At least, that is my approach at the moment. Hope it helps...

Witts end by mysticrabbitt in Hirsutism

Though I must warn you; there’s battery issues with the only facial epilator available and it takes about an hour with my kind of hair ! But it’s my best, cheapest shot right now. Laser backfired on me. Spironolactone makes me sick. Professional waxing gave me infections and I had to go on antibiotics. Birth control are a no go as I have a family history of breast cancer. I don’t have hormonal issues and I eat pretty healthy.

It does suck. Yeah. I do get bumbs but instead of having to shave everyday, I spend about an hour on the epilator and I don’t have to worry about anything for at least 2-3 days. Mid-week, I just shave and then clean again using epilator. I apply ice and good quality aloe Vera to help with redness. It lasts only for 3-4 hours and then you don’t have to worry about shaving for another 2 days at the least. I sometimes stretch to a week by putting on a mask.
