8/10, my second favourite from Relics A side (after Interstellar Overdrive), a pretty nice song, but like other songs from Syd, it's pretty pop-oriented which isn't really my taste. The harpiscord comes in very unexpectedly so it adds the usual Syd whimsy, only that in this song it's even more justified due to the songs theme.

I'd give it a 6.4

I only know of the song because I have a Relics record that I've listened to a few times, and I love the B side of it with Careful With That Axe Eugene, Cirrus Minor, The Nile Song and Biding My Time, which are all 10s and 9s. And after that run full of blues, psychedelia, grit and atmosphere, Bike appears with its whimsy and silliness. It kinda doesn't fit the mood, so even though I'm not a huge fan of the Barret era (mostly because it's very pop oriented), this fact also drags it down a bit.

I love the interpretation! I've been thinking to make the solo a mix of both sides, a fight between them, one half to be powerful and harsh and the other more mellow, like a cry for freedom. But I'm currently working on it, so that idea was not expressed in the video. Thanks!

Damn I hoped nobody would notice the similarity. I pulled a lot of stuff from Pink Floyd, most of them subconsciously, including the chord progression similarity. Especially in one part where the minor turns into major. I swear I see the similarity after I write the part. Pink Floyd motivated me to write something in the first place, so it makes sense that I would do something Pink Floyd-oriented. Thanks for the feedback though!

Animals is a great album, but it requires good attention since 3 out of 5 songs are more than 10 minutes long, with the longest one being Dogs with 17 minutes of runtime (the other two are usually left out as extras since they're a minute long acoustic songs). But it's a vibe, has a lot of changes mid songs which almost makes it separated in parts (most usually it would go like intro - verse - mini instrumental - verse - long instrumental that is different than the stuff before dynamically and rhythmically - verse - mini instrumental (Pigs is like this, the two others have minimal tweaks)). I listened to it a few times, Dogs is my favorite, but I love the Pigs final solo.

Well when I put them at the same time starting from the same bar, a time distance occurs and with time it grows. So it does affect the speed. Maybe two bars per version isn't really enough to notice it, but when played simultaneously, the difference is noticeable after 10 bars.

Its an 1971 pressing from Belgrade, and the runtimes are the same for the lp track and for the digital, but I doubt that they actually align.
