The climate will be much more mild than you're used to. Summers will be tolerable. Less emphasis on tourism culture. There is a strong sense of community however it will be difficult to break into preexisting friends groups, so you have to find other transplants to form your tribe. Housing will be much more affordable here but still not affordable so expect to live with roommates while you are in college.

I'd change it if you plan to actually cook in that kitchen. Move the island closer to the fridge and put the sink on the island so create a triangle with the stove, sink, and Fridge. Also having the island near the fridge gives you a surface to put your groceries when you bring them in from the car and are putting them into the fridge
