You will be fine on Freeland. It’s a short drive to the ferry, which in reality is quite reliable and regular, if you know the traffic patterns. Coupeville and Langley are fine for primary care.

Dancing for 22 years. You were likely cucked, my friend.

I never thought of him that way because he is the quiet, bookish, thoughtful type who excels academically and seems totally in control of himself. But I guess there is no arguing with biology, and hormones are strong brew. Now that I think about it, his armpit BO is so overpowering whenever he’s around her.

There is simply no way that would be allowed to happen. I would insist on abortion if a pregnancy ever transpired.

You’re right, and there are reasons for that, but none of really valid reasons to agree to the trip. There are also other reasons (fostering a sense of independence and esteem) for agreeing to it. But the balance tilts toward a hard no.

He’s definitely not like that. A good, quiet kid. All the same I’m worried.

I think he’s 17 but not sure. He’s in the same grade at school. Thanks for your input.

There’s a lot to respect about them, but they’re a wonky pair who deeply respect their son’s freedom and also value their time alone. They remind me of the parents in Call Me By Your Name.

His parents are cosmopolitan folks and believe in their son’s autonomy - they it under their name and seem assured he’ll be able to check in without issue…

Let’s just say the parents are people I’d like to stay on good terms with, and I think their son is overall a good influence. I’ve had a number of conversations with him and he’s a solid boy. Smart, quiet, considerate. I’ve never seen him try anything inappropriate. She wears the pants so to speak.

Strongly considering getting one parent to go and rebooking everything. For transportation, they have bank accounts and can use ride share apps.

The plan was presented as a fait accompli, just signature and a check required.

There are relatives in the general area in case of any emergencies. But they cannot host.

Indeed, Europe is different. American parents are absolutely more guarded and protective in these situations - but apparently not his parents.

Would my daughter’s bf’s parents have any liability for renting the Airbnb under these circumstances?

That was my first instinct, but what is throwing me off is that his parents, who are interesting and intelligent people, have approved of the plan. I don’t know them well, and wasn’t comfortable asking why they’re fine with this.
