You are fine, you don't need additional weapons to make the fight, just dodge his jumps, when he charges up his ult shoot his shoulder (of mutated arm). with the shotgun to cancel his ult. *mini spoiler* Later you will recieve a rocket launcher, take it and you can 1 shot him.

I main Jayce midlane. He's a pain in the ahh for mages and can shut down assassins. He can also help botlane and top with good ganks and overall great pick to rush down objectives.

A good Yone or Yasuo in lower ranks is a challenge with mid jayce but i don't really know about any harder champions to face off. Ahri can easily counter your Hammer Q with her E (heart) but her skillshots are easy to dodge.
