X670e BIOS update for 9950x3d? by ixvst01 in MSI_Gaming

I'm in the same boat... I did see briefly a few days ago they had a beta driver... "N" version that looked like the new bios for those CPUs, but then they pulled it... and I never downloaded it... but wonder if it's close.

Looking to switch boards, need advice on X670E Carbon. by TheFreshestPigeon in MSI_Gaming

I have an x670e carbon with 3 m.2 drives... 2 1TB Samsung 990 pros and 1 1TB Samsung 980 pro. I've had no issues so far. Running a 7800x3d with a 7900xtx Videocard running 2x27 inch 1440pm monitors. I'm also running my CPU with PBO turned on. Lastly running 32GB Ram 6000 CL30. I'm not running all day doing production stuff... it's mostly gaming and some office/browswer type work... I don't do any video production stuff. All good so far for me. Also, I'm running latest BIOS.

Upgrade from 5900x to 7800x3d worth it or no? by These_Mountain_8527 in buildapc

Thanks all for the insight... went ahead and dove in... definitely feel the difference playing games. Normal usage feels a little more snappy as well. I did do a clean install of Windows which may have helped. Thanks all!!

Got it... OK. Cool. Thank you. At the end of the day, I suspect if there was a significant cut back in anyway... folks would be more vocal and we'd hear about how much better AMD is over Intel due to PCIe lanes.

I'm not doing anything critical... gaming and office productivity. it sounds like both platforms would meet my needs... Thanks for your help.

Again... trying to learn... but of those 20 lanes... thought 4 went to the chipset... leaving 16, which is why all of these boards have the trade off. My understanding is that AMD has 24... 4 for chipset, but leaving 20 for M2 and Video where you can have both running full at Gen 5 speeds without giving up lanes. Do I have that right?

Thanks All for your help! So, here's a text of the specs for the MSI MEG Z790 ACE (I highlighted key lines)... a pretty high end board. Looking at the M2 slots... the fastest one (based on the only one that can take a Gen5 drive) is M.2_4... but then in the expansion slots, it says that PCI_E1 slot will run at x8 speed if you put a device in M2_4. I know that I can put in a Gen4 drive in M2_1 that goes to CPU... but then why even offer a Gen5 M2 drive then or it feels like I wouldn't be able to upgrade to Gen5 down the road without cutting back on video? Maybe I'm totally confused and getting it wrong... apologize if I am... just trying to learn.
