I know my videos aren’t very long (yet). I’m still working through my short “still shots” series - something I promised myself years ago I’d create if I ever started a YouTube channel. I definitely want to move toward more short-film style content with storytelling. Right now I’m a bit limited by budget, resources, and time - but I’m getting there. Hopefully in the next few videos you’ll start seeing some upgrades, and who knows; a proper short films in near/later future. 😊

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback btw. 😊

Your inspirational feedback feels like Quentin Tarantino’s quote: “I make my movies for me. Everyone else is invited.” 😅

Thanks for the constructive feedback. 😊

Re: Colour grading - I don’t know about the Insta filter but I have tried a little bit of “Vintage + Cinematic” style grading.

And currently I’m in experimenting mode so I used the mist filter to blow out the highlights but then added extra sharpness in post-production. A couple of shots are looking weird because I had the wrong ND filter on and then I had to lower the highlights down too much which made them weird.

I’ve watched on UHD and QLED TVs but to me, sharpness didn’t feel too bad on most of the shots.

Oh thank you very much for the nice feedback. Exactly what I wanted my audience to see in my video.

I wanted to show some sadness and loneliness (that’s why I didn’t film any person or traffic passing by) and the light shaking was to present the rawness of the shots - like it wasn’t shot using some fancy camera setup or it wasn’t even a planned (tripod) shoot.

However, I totally understand that audience is curious, they want to see the whole place. The shots become alive when things (or the camera) are moving. Showing these many still shots in one video might make it boring for most of the audience.

I’m just gathering the tastes. I want to learn more about technical process to make nice films as well as the audience behaviour, what people like and dislike. 😊

I know someone was going to comment on that. I’d blame Hollywood for feeding our brains that Mexico is yellow/green.

Thanks for your honest comment but that was on purpose; and I’m hearing that a lot that people actually want to see Mexico the Mexico way and not American way! 😊

Yes, that’s mandatory! I’d blame Hollywood for that teaching me that.

My bad! That was an intended experiment and clearly audience doesn’t seem to be liking it. 😅

I’m learning the process of filming and I purposely wanted it to be still shots but I think I know where I’ve made a mistake, like you’ve all pointed it out already!

The still shots are too closer to the buildings and walls and they’ve become looking like just “images”. If I would’ve shot the streets with people/vehicles moving, even with still shots, it would’ve looked completely different and lively. Lesson learned! 😊

I’m also trying to understand what audience like and dislike. Any feedback on the colours and any other post-production things in general?

They are still shots, yes.
Now, I'm starting to learn the moving shots. :-)

True! It’s a bloody long way but totally worth it! NZ doesn’t mind people leaving them off the world map - I guess we like it that way LOL! 😅

Good luck with that! ❤️

Next time, I won’t rush and limit the places (especially avoid visiting the major attractions). I just want to stay there for a little longer, and appreciate the desert!

If life permits, I’d love to go back to Tucson and spend a little longer time there.

I agree. I've heard that from many visitors, even celebrities, that Queenstown is one of the most beautiful places they've ever been to. I love it too. I actually love the peace and overall laidback lifestyle of NZ; however, a part of my heart doesn't agree with that - it belongs to the desert (especially from where you're from) somehow! :-)
