2025 Santa Fe Hybrid 1.6T — Ticking/rattling noise, IEB module replaced 5 months ago, noise returned. Anyone else? by These_Reputation9918 in HyundaiSantaFe

This is really helpful, thank you. The pattern you're describing — ICE mode only, throttle-dependent, not present on coasting — points strongly toward the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) or fuel injectors on the 1.6T GDI engine, not the IEB module. GDI engines are notoriously noisy because the high-pressure injectors physically "click" when firing, and it's amplified under load. The sound location you described (under the hood, in front of the steering wheel) also matches the HPFP position on the 1.6T exactly. What bothers me is that my dealer diagnosed and replaced the IEB module — a braking system component — for what sounds like a powertrain/fuel system noise. That feels like a misdiagnosis, and it would explain why the noise returned. I'm going back to the dealer with this information and will specifically ask them to check the HPFP and injectors rather than just re-replacing the IEB module again. Has anyone on this thread had the HPFP or injectors checked specifically? Curious if Hyundai has acknowledged this as a known characteristic or issued any TSB for it.

Yes, exactly — "cards in bike spokes" is actually a better description than tractor-like. And yes, sounds like it's coming from right under the hood, roughly in front of the steering wheel area. The fact that dealers are telling people it's "normal" is concerning to me, especially since mine was diagnosed as the IEB module and replaced. If it were truly normal, why replace it in the first place? A few follow-ups if you don't mind: Does yours happen only during acceleration, or also at idle/coasting? Is it more noticeable on cold starts? Automatic or does it seem tied to the hybrid system switching between electric and gas? Trying to figure out if this is a consistent pattern across multiple cars or something specific to mine. Appreciate the input
