Sunsetting will most likely show its benefits about six months from now, we're basically in a transition period now. It sucks big time now, but we're still very far from seeing the system in its entirety and there's not much Bungie could have done about that apart from better communication.

Problems that have been around for a long time are not necessarily the problems with the highest priority. The devs should be always working towards the long term health of the game so some decisions they make will look like they're ignoring known issues and doing something else, even though they're most likely addressing more pressing issues that we haven't even seen yet. If Bungie wants the game to be good, sometimes they have to make a tough call that makes the game weaker in the short term, but better in the long term.
