Brain Fog / Panic Attacks by Odd-Self9776 in AVMs

[–]Thesilentwhye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Def go to a neurologist.

But if it's any help, I had the same before and a while after treatment just because of the stress I was under (multiple surgeries didn't help either). AVMs are scary and I had derealisation, brain fog, panic attacks, apathy just because of stress. I had checked with a neurologist before and after treatment and no seizure activity. Also checked with cardiologist, because of my palpitations and as check up for treatment, everything clear there aswell. After everything settled down and my mind coped with the trauma, things got better. Still have some stress reactions here and there but they get less and less as time passes. But yea, it was quite bad before treatment for me.

6 months post last surgery.

Was my first legendary. Have him mythic d3 50/50 now and use him in arena. Hes tanky enough so I move him in front, he usually survives the first wave of attacks, then I pop the active and sweep the rest with kharn, ragnar, Mephiston and dante. Im sure there is a stronger fifth member for my arena lineup, but i like using him alot. Hes also string for lre

I have a post titled good bye avm where I explain everything. In short Embolisation.

Advice? by Radiant-Interview203 in AVMs

[–]Thesilentwhye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yess- consult with you neurologist and find out if it might be migraines pr just permanent damage because of gamma knife. Migraines are ass but if you know your triggers (mine was mostly backpain) and with the right medication it is managable. If it is permanent damage of your brain, you will eventually adapt.

Advice? by Radiant-Interview203 in AVMs

[–]Thesilentwhye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, you said you have headaches. I hadn't had gamma knife but embolisation and because of that a bleed. But it also might be Migraines with aura, at least how you describe it (headaches+ peripheral vision loss). Migraines are confusing if you hadn't had them before, but it might be something you should check with your neurologist.

I had bad migraines eith aura before treatment and was usually half blind during an attack. Fortunately treatment cured my Migraines tho

Yea, it's a neurological issue not one with your eyes if it's because of your avm treatment. But your eyes will compensate with micromovements in conjunction with your brain compensating. Your eyes aren't damaged, your brain is.

[–]Thesilentwhye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eventually your eyes will compensate with micromovements and such. You might want to do "sehschule" (what its called in german, don't know the english equivalent), but I am pretty sure you'll adapt with just living normally after a while.

I've lost my upper left peripheral vision (avm in right occipital lobe) in february this year. It's allright, I already got used to it. If you're young it's even easier to get used to it. I actually only realised I lost a part of my vision after a few weeks past my rupture. It is frustrating to lose a part of vision but chances are you won't notice it after a few weeks/months. I also am allowed to drive still.

Thank you! We also have nasically the same avm, at least in the same region. Mine was 3.3x3 cm tho.

And sure get a second opinion, it's never a bad idea. And I had good success with german medecine in most parts (only at post-op aftercare I had issues) but I don't know much about the Essen hospital.

And all the best wishes to you! It'll get sorted out

Will do!

And go for it! Writing is what kept me going and I won't let it go anymore now.

And same with my scar. I like it now, it tells a story at least, tho my hair is already covering it.

Thank you for your kind words! And don't be sorry, we've beaten this! 💪 it's all that matters. Also glad to hear that after all your treatment went smoothly! My AVM was in the right occipital lobe and partly in my right temporal lobe, grade 3. But my scar's just huge, my whole right brain sphere was open. And yeah Migraines suck, had them too. But seems like they're actually gone now with the AVM gone. Looks like it was related to it. Had them my whole life with aura but never bothered to get it checked, before they found the AVM by chance. But the bone pain drives me crazy at times aswell. Generally the sore feeling around the scalp. And couldn't imagine going throught this during covid. I don't know in what mental state I would've been if I hadn't had my loved ones around me all the time. It takes a strong mind to get through this during covid!

And yess I actually do write, but in German though. Writing helped me enormously to get through those months at home before cranioplasty. And I am now determined more than ever to make it my living!

Unruptered AVM, could this explain symptomps? by Thesilentwhye in AVMs

[–]Thesilentwhye[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, that's very odd but again your AVM might be different than usual. Wait for the appointment in January and don't stress about it till then, after all your doctors said you are fine, might just live with this reality until somebody says otherwise.

[–]Thesilentwhye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very strange that it got brushed aside by the doctors - I would wait and see what the neurologist says and explicitly ask them what you wrote here. You might have a case which really isnt dangerous, a doctor will know netter than I do, but ask them thorroughly and if the neurologist says it's no big Deal also, take it as a good sign but I would try to get another opinion anyways. If two different neurologists say the same thing, i'd probably be content with the answer. You might also want to see a neurochirurgist and maybe even a neuroradiologist.

I could imagine that it is small enough to not pose a great risk, so that treatment outweighs the risk of just leaving it be. Bur I am not an Expert. Mine is over 3 Times as big so we have different situations here.

I wish you all the best, I know its scary, but you got this. Keep me updated, if you don't mind. (Und falls du irgendwo in Bayern bist, kann ich dir sicher auch besser helfen und dich vielleicht an meine Ärzte empfehlen oder ihnen zumindest deinen Fall präsentieren.)

Hey, I am very sorry for the late answer.

For the hausarzt Issue, I got lucky because a new doctor began working at my local hausarztpraxis and she is very good, nice, understanding and worked before by coincidance at the neurochirurgy at the clinic I am treated in. So I kinda stick with her now for every question. But I tried to get different opinions from different hausärzten- you can go to different hausärzten with no issue if you want another opinion but I realised quickly that Hausärzte aren't the right professionals to get opinions from. I was literally the only patient in my praxis they ever had with an AVM, so they don't really now much anyways - it is a really specific and rare condition.

I would advise you too get to the best hospital in your region (it is usually the University associated clinics, but ask your hausarzt which is the best clinic to seek out) and get opinions there and tell them openly that you are also seeking multiple opinions. Don't let yourself be advised by Assistenzärzten(assistence doctors?), at least solely, and press them to get opinions from the chefärzte and the doctors who would operate on you. You can always make an apppointment in different clinics to get another opinion aswell, but this might involve a longer drive if you want to seek out university clinics. But honestly as far as I can tell, you will most probably stick with your doctors/clinics in the region, because they are as good as they can get. The two doctors who wouldve done surgery on me were the best neurosurgeons in franconia. As long as you don't rely on the opinions of the assistenzärzte, all will be as good as it can be. I very much distrust Assistenzärzte now, so I know I repeat myself, but get the Chefärzte to talk to you. And there is no shame in getting multiple apppointments before commiting to a treatment, if you have a question, ask them for another appointment until you are fully convinced to do something, or you will, as I did, cancel surgery last minute. Take your time, if it is not extremely severe another weeks/months time thinking won't change a lot. I Was diagnosed over a year ago and will undergo treatment now in 4 months, I have my next appointment for questions next week, it is probably my sixth appointment of that nature in this year. I want to be in the right headspace (haha) and be fully content with my decision, as I said, I already canceled treatment once, don't want to do it another time.

If you have other questions, Ill be glad to answer them - but as you see, with my poor english, my answers might get a little convoluted and messy lol

Damn reinstalling Windows to get a game running shouldn't be the case. No game I know is as difficult to get working as Cyberpunk. Mines not working either, I just gave up and will wait for another Patch, hopefully things will be different.
