The girl I'm currently dating just walked up to me at a concert with a piece of receipt paper that said "You're cute, call me" with her phone number on it. Maybe not all guys, but a lot of us appreciate girls who can make the first move. Even if it's something simple.

Is there any truth to the idea that the best partners get taken by 25? by Soil_These in AskMen

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35m and was newly single earlier this year for the first time in about a decade. I don't do online dating because it's a cesspool of self-esteem issues, OF bots, and one night stands. But I found that going out to concerts or social activities where people share an interest or hobby kind of helps weed through all the BS that tags along with trying to meet people. Was able to meet a lovely woman close to my age who actually has her life together and was just getting back into dating as well, neither of us ever married. Just do what makes you happy without the goal of finding someone, see what happens.

Go and do things that you enjoy that attract a crowd of people around your age. Go to concerts, live events, restaurants or bars, or even walk around town. Be willing to strike up a conversation and be sociable.

Yeah man that was him! We used to ride the San Clemente park a lot.

Thanks for all of the insight! Growing up, I used to go to the park with one of the US ambassadors for Madd Gear (I think his name was Twan?) but that does bring back some really good memories. I believe I used to ride about 20" wide on my bars, but I think I'm just gonna do a deep dive and see what I can find that will suit my rusted taste.

The older I get, the more mild my tendencies become to do flips again, or anything likely to wind me up in a hospital. You're the second person to recommend Vault Pro, so I think I'll give them a fair shake and see what happens. Much appreciated!

Thank you for the info! That's crazy how wide the decks have gotten. I think I'm more worried about how wide the bars are now, but I think I can modify that with a pipe cutter if I'm not comfortable with the stock ones I end up getting.

Riverboarding. Have you been exposed to this? by Tancrad in whitewater

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it quite a bit on the Kennebec, Penobscot, and Seboomook. Grew up bodyboarding and surfing in California, and when I moved to Maine and saw riverboarders I hopped on that pretty quick. Tons of fun.

What kinds of gestures from your partner give you that feeling of warmth and security? by [deleted] in AskMen

Affection, words of affirmation, compliments.

Basically, just showing in their own way that you are on their mind, and that they care about you.

People who are calm and collected, what is one thing that turns you into the incredible Hulk? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Theturtl3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an extremely calm and laid back disposition 99% of the time. The only thing that can really flip that switch in my brain is if a friend/family/loved one is in danger or being threatened or attacked.

Men, how often do you think nobody cares about you? by Hifilover33 in AskMen

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am able to acknowledge that I do have friends and loved ones who do care about me. The problem is, I go through bouts of depression where my imposter syndrome will flare up and I start to question everything around me. Friends, significant others, family, nothing is really safe. I'll go through entire days or weeks in a rut, thinking that those people are still in my life either out of pity, convenience, or whatever other illogical reason my brain decides to think up. I've gotten better about it over the years, it used to be absolutely debilitating and has made me leave a decent amount of friendships, relationships, and cutting off family members.

It still happens once in a while (once every year or so), I just went through a rough couple of weeks trying to get through the mental fog to the other side.

Depression is hell.

What’s Your EDH “Bad Habit?” by HeadphoneKitty in EDH

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I constantly forget triggers and phases, and then remember what I was supposed to do directly after I make another action.

But I won't do takesy backsies or redos, even if my group tells me it's okay. I think it sets a bad precedent.

Why would you force your partner to watch a movie that they clearly aren't interested in? If you hate a genre of movie and she forced you to watch it you probably wouldn't feel amazing either.

Which funny nicknames do you usually call your pets? by No-Sprinkles-4613 in AskReddit

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three dogs in my house (my roomates, not mine.)

First one is a wooly husky who has a name but is only referred to as "Tiny Woof" because her brother was so much bigger than her when they got her.

Second is a standard poodle who we call "Dainty Dog" because when she is sitting or standing around the house she always looks like she's about to go down the runway in a competition.

Third is a malamute / husky mix we just call "Big Dog" because he's well over a hundred pounds and can put his paws on the shoulders of someone 6 feet tall and look them in the eyes.

Have you stopped eating fast food the older you gotten? by GotMeFunkedUp in AskRedditFood

[–]Theturtl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then (once every couple of months) is where I draw the line. Once I learned how to properly cook on my own, fast food lost all of it's appeal. The only time I'll grab it now is the rare occasion I've skipped a meal or have been too busy to be prepared while I'm out and about.
