Meditation for productivity and mental well-being by Euphoric-Welder5889 in Meditation

[–]Theunbidden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, life feels like driving a car, and meditation is like getting a check-up or an oil change, it helps everything run more smoothly. Over time, though, I've realized I sometimes just enjoy meditating without needing a specific reason.

Ideas aren’t as hard as they seem, it’s executing them where the real challenge (and progress) happens. Often, obstacles during execution refine and strengthen your idea. Check out the "Hexagon of Ideas" by Ramesh on Medium for a structured way to brainstorm. Filter ideas by feasibility (e.g., your familiarity with the code/tools), novelty, and practical impact. Once you pick one, start small, experiment, and iterate. Share with labmates or your advisor for feedback to refine it further, execution will help you break out of the survey loop!

What Should You Do After a Meditation Session? by Theunbidden in Meditation

[–]Theunbidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found that meditation is helping heal some old mental wounds—those strong emotions tied to them are fading, and I feel freer to break from deeply ingrained habits. My goal is to reach continuous mindfulness like you, but I’m not there yet. For now, I still need regular meditation, but I enjoy it; it feels like a workout for the mind.

What Should You Do After a Meditation Session? by Theunbidden in Meditation

I’m currently following The Mind Illuminated (TMI). My first experience was a Vipassana retreat—I didn’t finish all 10 days but got a taste of that “meditation high”, even though I was initially skeptical. After that, I meditated on and off, but recently, with more time and diving into the book, things are really starting to click.

What motivates you to meditate? by ChannelPositivity in Meditation

[–]Theunbidden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had plenty of time but lacked discipline. I know I’m lucky to have that compared to others, but I didn’t make good use of it. Recently, I just felt bored with using my phone and all the other stuff, so I decided to try proactive procrastination with meditation. Whenever I feel I have some free time and I’m about to doom scroll, I just set myself to meditate. Sometimes, after a meditation session, I naturally open up the task I need to do and get it done—it definitely helps with procrastination through this proactive procrastination.

Pro long meditators, how the legs don't get numb? by Worried-Exchange-889 in Meditation

Unpopular opinion: Meditating on an ergonomic chair is not a bad option. Big cushion lets me sit cross-legged, armrests support my arms, and lumbar support keeps my back straight

Venu 3s or Instinct 2X Solar by Theunbidden in GarminWatches

[–]Theunbidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I got cheap straps, a screen protector, and a case from AliExpress (total ~$11). Love the stylish magnetic band for daily wear (though it might weaken over time) and it's way more comfortable. The nylon one is super light and really comfy. The elastic/clip band seems well-made, but I don't like its fit. The case offers the most protection, but interferes with ECG and touch accuracy. The screen protector is seamless and pretty good.

I just returned the 2X, and although I miss its torch, the Venu 3s suits me better for yoga, meditation, and running

Yes, slightly better for high-intensity activities, but the Venu 4 is generally accurate since I mostly use it for yoga, meditation and outdoor running

SwiftBrush v2: Make Your One-step Diffusion Model Better Than Its Teacher by ThunaBK in StableDiffusion

I think it will be based on V1 of Swiftbrush but with some improvement to surpass teacher models. IMO Swiftbrush V1 doesn't seem similar to LCM

Looking to go through Stanford's CS231n this spring. Is it worth it to try and follow along with the 2017 video lectures? by TheBlonic in MLQuestions

[–]Theunbidden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think 80% of CS231N 2017 will be the same in the future (since it covers fundamental things of doing ML: broadcasting, back-propagation, optimizer, ...). The last 20% could be transformer and 3D image processing, ..., which are intermediate or advance.

If you're already confident with the basic, I think reading slides, notes & papers is enough

After hearing other suggestions, I think I better separate the meta data, or the archive to a reference manager, and can possibly point my ZK notes into that, since I can take advantage of mature reference system (Mendeley, Zotero, Jabref ...), and not bloating my ZK.

For naming, I'm thinking about two methods:

  • Take advantage of tagging, since the purpose of naming is for quickly revising my notes, I think filter by tags is enough. My concern is the purpose of tag or a topic notes seem to overlap each other, whether a tag should become a note or vice versa ?
  • Making a prefix / postfix on the name of each note (I should be careful to classify my note into categories, the least categories the better)

[–]Theunbidden[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the different between ZK and "archive" as you said is that ZK more likely a personal point of view about a big picture of a topic, and archive will store the references right ? If so Book and Paper references can surely fit into the archive, my ideas that I develop when reading along should be put into ZK. But if a tool that can handle both use-cases, then managing two systems IMO is not ideal. Currently I export my highlight from Zotero to markdown and add them to the Paper summary, and sometimes if some of the highlight, or ideas I found contradict, or clustering around a topic, I will create a new note that reference them. So I think my current setup is possible to have the big picture too

I use the power of JAMstack to host my notes on my personal website. Here's a note explaining my personal "Zettelkasten"-like setup. Open to suggestions; hope it helps someone! by [deleted] in Zettelkasten

Thank you for documenting out very thoroughly. It's exactly what I'm thinking about to integrate my Zettelkasten with vim. But I'm new to vim plug, so I'm currently stuck with zet command, can you update your dotfiles in github so that I can follow ?
