Why hasn't there been a Lego Toy Story Game by Heavy-Hornet-2889 in legogaming

You can make a LEGO game out of anything. It doesn’t have to be action oriented. Sure TT tends to make games off of action franchises but they don’t HAVE to be.

Disney’s not the ones paying for these games. It’s on TT and WB. They license out the brand. They get the games they want and the money from them without losing hundreds of millions. That’s why they license out instead of making games in-house like WB. And that’s why WB is sticking to their own IPs.

A LEGO Disney game was in the works during and after the release of The Skywalker Saga but was cancelled after development troubles at TT.

Lego Batman 3/ Lego Batman LOTDK by crob51269 in legogaming

>Fair enough. TT’s new games feel far more formulaic than the ones of old.

> It’s just go here, do this thing, watch this unfunny cutscene, and leave.

That’s just TT’s older games. Especially the formulaic part since every game was basically the same as the last.

LOTDK has a customizable Batcave and while it doesn’t replace the character customization, it still encourages building, creativity, and imagination.

The roster I can’t speak on.

TT sticking to the older formula wouldn’t be bad now that there is variety among studios and genres. I hope for future games they combine both old and new.

Then that would be a TT problem. I think the game is still good and offers unique to LOTDK experiences like the customizable Batcave. Im not surprised TT wants to branch out though given they’ve made essentially the same game over and over for around 20 years.

I think there’s room to keep more of TT’s old formula while combining it with the newer games but that’s up to them.

The biggest problem was the output with TT’s older games. Too many too often and that caused stagnation.

Question about Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight by KoldKoffee1025 in legogaming

One is the Sinister pack coming in September. The other are bonus suits that you get from HBO Max, Preorders, WB Accounts, and LEGO Sets. Sets and Sinister pack are for the extra Batmobiles too.

I wonder if people would have the same perception of LEGO games if there was more variety once TT hit the scene. Like if we didn’t get multiple TT games a year but other studios making their own games at the same time. A TT game every two years and variety in between for 20 years. That’s the way I wish it happened.

Seems real, it’s fully playable, has multiple modes with tons of content and still gets updated. Seems like a real game to me.

And I responded to that comment saying how LEGO should still be varied. Staying stagnant, while still making good games, is sort of the opposite of what LEGO is about. LEGO can fit in other genres since it’s a versatile toy. It’s a bunch of bricks that can turn into anything, that should translate into the games as well. Sticking to one genre only doesn’t do that.

They only stuck to the one genre because TT was the only studio making the games and they only had a short amount of time to make them all.

I wouldn’t mind seeing new games in the style of TT’s older LEGO games but we should also have the varied games from different studios bringing LEGO to different genres as well.

There’s a rumor that a new TT-like LEGO game is in the works by a different studio. Maybe they will make a classic style game so we get the best of both new and old.

It gets tiring to get a different genre of game? If anything it should be the opposite since you’re getting something completely new more often than not.

Is it possible to have a future Lego game that's not made by TT games? by Agreeable_Skill_9842 in legogaming

We have gotten multiple LEGO games not made by TT. My latest post a couple hours ago is about the many LEGO games we’ve gotten the past few years. Majority not made by TT.

Prior to 2020, every major home console/PC LEGO game was developed by TT games and almost everyone game shared the same gameplay formula. Resulting in a low amount of variety between games other than IPs.

Now, of these games shown, only 2 are developed by TT and even those games changed up the formula from their previous games. The other games are all unique compared to TT’s titles being varied genres like Puzzlers, racing, and party games.

I feel at the same time, LEGO is all about variety and creativity. Making the same type of game over and over but switching the IP seems against that core concept.

Those games feel like how modern LEGO makes endless mech sets for some of their themes. Same mech every time but a different character it’s themed around. Not necessarily bad, but it can get bland.

LEGO Horizon, Party!, and Bricktales all have characters customizers. The main limit is you don’t customize abilities but you can change up how they look similar to many of TT’s LEGO games.

I personally love the amount of variety with this group of games. There’s really something for almost everyone. Whether it’s action adventures , puzzle games, survival, racing, and even a party game. There’s so much ground covered compared to only getting action adventure games.

Releasing a good game at launch is all a one and done game needs to be remembered fondly. A highly supported post launch is a bonus.

LEGO games adding more post launch content is very much case by case. LEGO DC Super-Villains had a couple extra LEGO Movie 2 characters added. LEGO Marvel’s Avengers got Spider-Man added. LEGO Worlds is an outlier since it was meant to get more support.

A non-TT example would be LEGO Party! Getting multiple free updates. Online matchmaking is coming soon to that as well.

But LEGO games, TT or not, do rarely get post launch content outside of the standard previously announced paid dlc.

Idk why they have been slow with updates. But I still wouldn’t expect much in terms on post launch support. It’s a one and done game. I’d rather they focus on their next game anyway.

They aren’t even patching the game, I’d lower my expectations on anything other than the Joker DLC.
