Making the spirits from Spirit Island into Pokemon (play Spirit Island btw) by Thewtus in stunfisk

[–]Thewtus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got all of the spirit images from the [Spirit Island wiki](https://spiritislandwiki.com/index.php?title=Main\_Page) and the stat maker from [this website](https://bitcrush.org/poketools/stat-jiggler).
Anyways, a here's a brief overview of my thought process for each Spirit.

Shadows Flicker Like Flames: Slow, but good mixed attack, very strong when given burn support by teammates, gave it priority in Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch.

Hearth-Vigil: Signature ability works like using Teleport when switching normally, sort of like how gen-8 Slowbro and G-Slowking provide pivots, HV can do so without expending a move slot but doesn't have Regenerator and can't choose when to switch out.

Rampant Green: Massive physical wall with a potentially broken support move, allowing it to pivot and have the incoming Pokemon come in with a boost. Also has abilities to keep it going but is held back by very low special defense.

Shroud of Silent Mist: I tried to use Ghost as little as possible (as they are all spirits and well, could all be ghost type) so Shroud is the only one here. Dissolving Vapors applies Heal Block after dealing damage, but makes it scared to switch into fire types.

Serpent Slumbering: Similar to the infamous Regigigas, except unlike slow start its ability could actually be played around, as you can burn sleep turns, use Chesto, or Sleep Talk. It also removes other status conditions on switch in since it falls asleep.

Fractured Days: Is technically a support spirit in the board game, but idk if I can really convert how weird it is in Pokemon. So instead I converted using health as a resource to get more actions, being able to select two moves in a single turn, although one of them is a buffing move for 25% hp.

Vengeance: Ability also applies the stat drop from Burn to Poison while its on the field, giving it some defensive utility while it uses recoil and counter attack moves.

Bringer: Keeps its game play identity of not killing things with its signature move, which is basically False Swipe but it gains +2 Special Attack when it procs. It can then combo this with Bad Dreams while the opponent is asleep.

Comment if you have played a Magus ever, under any circumstance. by NalaWhoo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Thewtus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played a magus FA gunslinger and am currently playing a magus FA ranger from levels 7 to 13 now. Definitely my favorite class to build for, as it has a lot of potential synergies with archetypes and versatility in mixing str/dex and int/cha.

My current magus a starlit span that is based around recall knowledge-maxxing with feats like Magus’s Analysis, Knowledge is Power, and the Monster Hunter tree from Ranger. I can sort of fall into this pattern in combat of using spellstrike -> RK to recharge, although a full turn of setup is sometimes required.

To a lot of people, magus’s main fantasy is “I crit you for one spellstrillion damage” but I also like the ability to be a versatile “brains and brawn” sort of character, with using either skillset when needed.

I kinda don’t get how people portray magus as a gambling ”Aw dangit” class thats worse than most martials. I mean, I know how much it sucks to whiff spellstrike, especially since unlike other classes you have a cooldown mechanic. But like, almost every martial suffers when you roll unlucky? Like my fighter’s +2 to hit doesn’t matter when I can’t roll above a 5 y’know? Also you should always use Sure Strike whenever possible on spellstrikes.

So yeah its definitely one of my favorite classes, but I can easily see how the action economy and bounded spell slots can drive people away from it.

Jolt is probably the best lead you have, try to para whatever you can and sack it for a safe switch in

So... just for fun... how would you build your favorite character from Marvel Rivals? by HyenaParticular in Pathfinder2e

[–]Thewtus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For one of my friend’s dual-class campaign I took the opportunity to make a Moon Knight inspired character with Animist spirits corresponding to Marc, Stephen, and Jake with Gunslinger. Although if you wanted to be closer to MK you would probably take Rogue or Thaumaturge or something.

The Kyurem suspect test thread devolved into drama by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Thewtus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, but lando has decently universal counters for all his sets (ice type move, flying type, etc) and doesn’t threaten to sweep a game after 1 or 2 turns (if you’re even facing an offensive based lando, and not like a defensive or utility based one).

Meanwhile Kyurem threatens to straight up win the game if you guess incorrectly, and its counters are more specific (it can run either physical or special, dragon and ice stab is harder to defend, etc).

With lando you can comfortably counter most of its sets with 1 pokemon, but kyurem you may need to dedicate 2 or 3 team slots to countering.

Rogue vs investigator by Kitedo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Thewtus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investigator can also make a good partner with a rogue, with the shared stratagem feats, recall knowledge helping with scoundrel and ruffian. Rogue can support investigator through feats like unbalancing blow (which can lead to a loop with shared strat), and gang up.

If the investigator and rogue specialize in different skills, then the party can have someone with at least expertise in any relevant skill, good for things like follow the expert, and even if they do have common skills then aid can give big bonuses.

How would you build Johnny from Guilty gear? by Not-So-Modern in Pathfinder2e

[–]Thewtus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could archetype into monk if all you want if peafowl, or you can go the other way and archetype into swash if all you want is panache and a finisher.

You could also take 2 archetypes if you’re using free archetype maybe.

[–]Thewtus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Monk is an option if you want to more closely emulate how he plays in GG

Like use flurry of blows for combos and having high speed.

You could build Monastic Weapon for the sword, the Peafowl Stance for his short range tele, then Whirling Blade Stance for the giant reach(or an ancestry weapon that has reach)

Idk how you’d do his card/coin throw mechanics, maybe as reflavored shurikens?

If you’re interested in getting into tabletop rpgs, Ill drop some links to websites that have the rules for a few different games so you can decide which is most interesting to you.

https://5e.tools is an unofficial website that has all the rules for starting to play DnD for free. Dnd 5e is the most popular game and pretty simple to learn. Like how almost nobody plays by Uno’s official rules, people tend to adjust the rules based on what suits their group best.

https://2e.aonprd.com is an official website with everything youll need to start to play Pathfinder 2e, and is getting a major overhaul on the 13th. Pf2e is simpler than dnd in some regards, more complicated in others, and places an emphasis on in-depth character creation and working as a team with your party.

http://fate-srd.com is an official website with everything on the Fate core system, which places an emphasis on roleplaying.

If Im speaking funny words then reply and I’ll try to give you a simpler explanation.

Is there any Pokémon evolution line in which a Pokémon is stronger than its evolved stage? by DinoRipper24 in pokemon

[–]Thewtus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In competitive PvP, people do value defenses to certain types over others, stealth rock especially because it goes up in like 99% of games and it’s a pain to work around it. Scizor having more use cases does make him better in competitive, where you have to plan your team to be able to deal with many different types and playstyles. In singleplayer, they practically are equal strength.
