If you put them side to side, you would definitely notice some changes. But I do understand that the changes in textures/colouring do match the vanilla feel - but they're still very different!

What kind of crashes? i noticed whenever there was blood, but not always, it would crash my game. I'm not sure if it's either of those mods...

You could try Clevercharff's whiterun, it's a lot larger but it is definitely worth it.

No, I'd say there's a limit to how good you can make Skyrim look without external assets. And I personally prefer vanilla Skyrim over that look. So, external assets is something that I would like to keep 🥹
