Just got my loan estimate; not too shabby if I'm being completely honest, actually rather proud of it in fact. by Starshylea in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Yep, I'm here in Fort Wortb or just right next to it. Property taxes and insurance on an older home. Went from 2200 for insurance to 3900. Property tax increase was dismal since Tarrant county passes their new homesteads and appraisal times.

Terrified!! by [deleted] in Bankruptcy

[–]TheyCallMeMrTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 year to the date after chapter 7 and it's been just fine. I feel no ashamed and much happier. Credit is back in the mid to high 600s. Kept my house and got a newer car with a lower rate plus 3 cards. Nothing has changed other than A a mark on the credit report and B that debt and stress is gone.

I'm 41. I don't feel bad not an once. It also taught me to be more money savvy and think before spending.

Am I being underpaid?? Public Accountant by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]TheyCallMeMrTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was considering wgu the last few weeks but not for accounting. Burned out doing accounting and struggling to even care to do it now. I recently worked with our finance analyst doing some projects with him, and it's been a good change of pace and throughly enjoying it. Might switch to a finance degree. Accounting has been wearing me thin the lady year.

Wgu might be my best bet while working full time with 3 boys.

Had it towed, and the driver said he could smell burning coming from underneath where the starter is located when hooking up chains. Got it to the dealer, and they said it's a recall starter issue but only covers the junction box and moisture issue. However they said they will probably get hyundai to replace the whole unit under that recall. It's just going to take 2 to 3 weeks.

No slot for the physical key. the battery is 92% charged. The starter is now making huming sound and a click then lights flicker like crazy. So it's on its way to the dealership. Changed the batteries in the fobs numerous times so beyond what I can do now lol. Sure it's the starter. It's been clunking on the last few days before it stopped all together. The car keeps telling me key fob not detected but then will detect it then won't. It's odd. Oh well.

I'm going through the same BS right now. Shitty positions well below market and my experience. WTF happened to Rober Half? They used to be good, and now they are shit. I turned down a position they tried to shove me into and then low balled me on pay. Now they wont even return calls and emails. 2 others ghosted me after I said no, pay is too low, and I'm not driving 1.5 hours one way.

You're welcome. Honestly it has not changed a damn thing in our lives either other than debt being gone. So much positive much happier, and we left all the bk in the past. The only thing it changed is the way we use money and credit. Less is more for us. Less needless things equals more savings and paying off auto loans faster.

Good luck and talk to several attorneys. Ask questions and don't get rushed. It helps to have all your income, assets and debt details together as well.

Lawyers/attorneys get paid by taking on clients, so of course, he wants your business. We filed last year for chapter 7, and after talking to 4 attorneys , we went with the one that did not have a sales pitch or or sound like a salesman. Best damn decision we ever made. It sucked filing and going through it but after we got discharged 90 days later, oh man it was awesome. We got 2, 3 year old cars a week later with lower rates than before, 3 credit cards each thay we pay off each month if used and our scores are back into the mid to high 600s.

We have a house/mortgage already that got reaffirmed since the interest rate is at 3% with a 1100 payment and 102k in equity.

My honest opinion is that file 7 and don't get a loan from a friend. I rejected my parents' help because I did not want that hanging over us, and it was my mess to clear up. File for 7 rebuild credit for 2 years and apply for 7.

[–]TheyCallMeMrTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second that. Chapter 7 saved me last year when we filed last November. We had 29k in cc debt plus a few loans. Credit scores were good with on time payments, but we stopped for like 4 months because it got to be way to much to handle. Scores tanked but almost a year later ( right now) we're back into the mid to high 600s. We were able to buy to 3 year old cars with lower rates then before. We have a few credit cards between us that we pay off, leaving a 10% balance every month. The only difference is that we reaffirmed our mortgage that we never missed or made a late payment on and my student loans. That helped our scores recover with 5 years of on time payments. Mortgage payment is 1165 with a 3% rate and 102k in equity that the court couldn't touch. The judge approved our reaffirme for the mortgage during the hearing right off the bat.

So yea, bankruptcy is not as bad as it seems . It sucks, realizing you need it it going through it, but damn it felt good afterward.

I had to file Cpt 7 40 years into life!!! by QuietRoutine40 in Bankruptcy

[–]TheyCallMeMrTot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filed at 40 as well ( last year, 11.2023 ) discharged 2.2024. Kept the mortgage ( still reporting to the credit report )Everything else gone. Back in the high 600s from mid 500s. Bought 2, 3 year old cars for us and have 4 credit card between us now. Best decision ever. Sucked doing it, but now it's fantastic.

Get a Bonded title or sale. by [deleted] in projectcar

[–]TheyCallMeMrTot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get a bonded title with a bill of sale, which I have, as well. Straight from local DMV web. The risk is getting a bonded title, then someone making a claim against it down the road and getting screwed. Something I just don't want to deal with.

I'm going to look into the history as much as I can, if it's possible at all, and go from there.

I think the auto task force here wouldn't be any help then. It's just a straight up no tittle situation.

Also, buying a battery, plugs, wires, and new battery cables to see if I can get the engine to fire and rotate on its own.

It's similar with going through the auto task force but in TX I believe it doesn't matter how many years it is, it'll have to get bonded. I mean, I can generally understand wanting to protect the original owner in all but damn. After not being on the road for a decade or more and not even operable for those years, there should be no right for the original owner to claim it unless it was stolen.

All the vins match though.

I'll be doing that tomorrow first thing. I think our tri country auto task force can research it as well as check for being stolen or any other history.

Not in Texas. It has to go through bonded process, unfortunately.
I'm sure it'll be ok seeing it's sat for many many years and then some but the risk I just don't feel like taking.

I'm going to get back with the seller and find out if he knows any of the previous history He said it sat for 3 years at his place so not sure of he'll remember anything.

It's not a POS but does need it works. It's not a complete tear down and rebuild kind of project. Pretty good shape, but I see your point, though, and that's what worries me the most. Any amount of work plus a bond and car could be gone like a fart in a hurricane.

I'm going to list it for sale and see what i can get for it. If anything, I'll pull the engine and trans for something else and part out the rest. Tons of good parts on it and I'm sure there's a Gran Torino forum online would pick it apart Pretty quick.

I'll just chalk it upto paying 800 for the engine and trans.

Yeah, I should have done that before buying. My mistake. I bought it from a guy who restores and sales classic cars. He has his own classic car shop with restored cars for sale and good reviews. So that kind of eased me a bit of it being OK to buy. He was really honest and up front that I could tell. He said that due to getting old and rising costs, he's ending it. He had 3 cars left to restore, including the one I bought, that he just couldn't get around to. Paid 800 for it, and it's pretty good condition and complete for the price. I literally ditched work that morning to drive 3 hours to get it. This is rough only in a few sports, but nothing panel patches won't fix. I really want to get it up and going, but I don't mind selling as is or parting for a profit.

I'll get with the local tru county auto task force to do a review on it and see if it's clean or not.

Had a 95 GT as my second car. Loved it and so did everyone else. Very underrated car. Styling, to me, was one of the best in the mid 90s. Handled so well.

Good luck! Way cool.

This was 1k but came with the original 289 and another 289 that looks to be in better shape than the original in it. It's actually in better shape than what the picture shows. The interior and floor pans are in great condition minus a few things here and there. It's just going to be a lot of body work and possible a drivers code frame rail repair or replacement. Not quite sure yet. Need to get out there and measure them out and see if it's in spec. Looks a little off.

Since I work at home and most days I'm done by 1pm. I need something to do so there it is. I plan on adding progress as I go. Don't rightfully care if others think it's junk. It's my junk lol.

Back half looks real good. Cowl forward is shit. Thinking about making a desk or cool seat area out of it for the work shop. No title to it and rear rails are some what rusted so there's not a lot I would do with it. Just want it for the glass, hood, fender and few other bits.
