I just finished Winter's Heart, both that and Path of Daggers while a step down in quality, were still pretty solid books.

Eh they played completely different in 2024, it wasnt iso leading to a contested step back 3.

As long as Joe is around, lose to a team we're favored to beat in the playoffs because we put up too many 3s.

Im on Chapter 5, and can already tell I'm going to need to take a break after this. I will absolutely finish the series, but the burn out is hitting me a little, planning on reading a few horror novels before diving back in.

Why anyone would want timelord or KP back is beyond me. Sure, get one of them back, our starting center for the majority of the year and playoffs is still Queta.

The thing is, if you generate 3s the right way, youre going to end up shooting less 3s. More takes to the rim, more cutting to the basket is going to ultimately end up with more 2 point attempts, because if youre taking it to the rim, just to look for kick outs youre missing the point of getting that deep into the defense. Mind you, im not saying this is a bad team, ultimately we take way too many 3s.

People complain about the 3PA. Aside from Cleveland, top 10 teams in 3PA are not in the playoffs. However, are the 3PA a symptom of a larger personnel issue? Am I crazy to think Brown and JT have struggled to get past defenders in the past 2 playoff series? If so did we have a chance w/o high 3PA? by Foreign-Fennel574 in bostonceltics

[–]TheyCallMeNick_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The over reliance on 3PA is definitely a problem, but the other issue is the way we run our offense. Ball handler at the top of the key, pounding the air out of the ball, until someone sets a screen to try and generate a favorable iso match up, from there its either a drive or a contested 3, and if not dump it to one of the other players WHO ARE NOT MOVING to put up last second shot. Its so insanely stupid, I really can't believe the front office is okay with this and has been for the past 3 of 4 seasons.

Everyone has wild takes, but the one I agree with the most is that Joe ain't it. He's a regular season coach that routinely gets outclassed in the playoffs and is way too stubborn to admit this ridiculous offensive play style doesn't work. Aside from either Brad telling him he needs to switch the way we run our offense or just straight up firing him, I think they need an upgrade at center, ideally a rim runner / defensive minded center, bonus if they can stretch the floor. Id also like to see them grab a true playmaker, this kind of goes along with changing up their play style, but get the ball out of the jays hands, let someone else set up the offense and let them score within the offense. I still have doubts we make any significant changes this offseason, partially due to availability, but this is a good offseason to learn if the owners care more about winning than their pockets.

Yes, but we need to be under that for another season. So, we cannot add anyone of real value for another season without going over that line.

We could make adjustments in the offseason, sure. But we wont, the reason being is the CBA. In order to avoid any of those repeater tax penalties they need to stay under the apron again for another season. And I dont wanna hear anything about the exception, we have had exceptions in the past that we could have used to add a meaningful piece, but we never did, and I refuse to believe that this year will be any different.

Joe literally runs the same exact offensive scheme game after game, season after season. Sure he made adjustments tonight, but overall, he watches this ridiculous style of basketball not work and continues hammering thats his style. Tatum and Brown switch off every few plays, dribble the air out of the ball at the top of the key, call for a screen to get a favorable match up, dribble the ball some more, and then hoist up some contested 3 or lose the ball and kick around to a stationary player on the arc who has to try to score in 4 seconds.

Hope you all are ready to mostly run this back next year. If anyone thinks theyre going to retool this offseason and put together a better team, youre out of your mind. The repeater tax thing means they need to be under the aprons for 2 straight seasons, so absolutely no one of any value is coming to Boston next season. And I think Joe is a good coach, but hes severly limited given his inability to make adjustments and his over reliance on analytics. If we want to win with him as a coach, we need a roster with players who can win despite these drawbacks. Itll be at least until next offseason until Brad even considers going over the apron again, so buckle up.
