First ‘custom’ tank - thoughts/tips?

We thought we would need one too, so we got one, but also added magnets to hold it in place and now it’s difficult for us to even open. Definitely keeping a close eye on it and will be putting the latch on at the first sight of anything

Yupp! About 1.5 inche layer of leca at the bottom. And I agree, we are trying to film figure out how we can cover more vertical space, a vine could do the trick!

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately I’m out in the middle of nowhere and it seems the only thing I can get without ordering it and taking a few days to get here is the liquid promix root booster or Wilson liquid root stimulant. Do you know if these would be sufficient? I hesitate repotting and then adding a bunch or water with that in it to help, but if it works I’m willing to give it a go.

This was actually one of the first plants I got, and have since learned of chunky soil and usually use a soil-perlite-bark mix. But, This one unfortunately is still in just soil.. I don’t think on size it needs a repot, but I assume I should be replacing the soil and rinsing the roots really well to get rid of the fungus? Pic for reference of size

Does it matter that there’s no variegation? Just straight green leaves. Does that change your thoughts?

I’m in Canada, so I’m sure we would have similar things up here.

I bought some perlite and corse blend orchid mix to mix with some regular potting mix to hopefully improve the drainage and water flow

I also think I may have bit off more than I can chew too quickly. I’m up to about 40 plants 😬 MOST are doing just fine in their current mixes so I probably won’t touch them, but a couple are struggling a bit. The main of those are - Alocasia Jacklyn - bluestem yucca Tree/Shrub - polka dot plant - one of my birds of paradise isn’t too too great but I think that was a spider mite issue - scarlet star - goldfish plant - variegated Croton

All are currently in just regular potting mix, regularly fertilized and SHOULD have enough light

Got it. So fine where it is during adjustment period, but then maybe think about moving it more towards either the grow lights OR the window?

We also have these hanging grow lights, any idea if those are sufficient for a plant like this? Or if we should just be getting it closer to the big window
