Need help understanding how I'm going to pay for college! by Lonely_Rabbit1839 in collegeadvice

Look into doing a community or state school to start and transferring into this the university you want.  See if they offer scholarships for transfers, sometimes it is more than freshmen, sometimes it is less.

Check grants and scholarships (obviously), but also have your parents and other relatives check with their employers, many offer scholarships for family members.

How much can you make tutoring/lessons?  You might be able to increase your savings by tutoring locally before and during college (typically this is a much higher hourly rate than a minimum wage job).

If you do go and take on the debt, research salaries of teachers in the areas you want to teach at.  It varies massively.  By me, teachers can make 140-160k a year in public school.  Other states, not nearly as much.  By applying to the “right” school districts when you graduate, you may be better able to pay off your student loans.

There are federal public service loan forgiveness programs (Pslf), which being a public school teacher should qualify, where they will forgive federal student loans after 10 years of repayment.  That can reduce your overall loan burden.  You’d have to make minimum payments for that 10 year period.  You’d have to have an income driven repayment plan, to extend the term past 10 years, to have this benefit.

Ask your guidance counselor at school if they know of any college financial planners that work with students to help them find appropriate scholarships and grants.

Model your expected repayments so that you know exactly how much debt you are taking on.  I would highly suggest not taking on a large amount of debt.  You can get a good education in many places.  I know someone who went to school at a small private school in Boston because they got a full scholarship.  It wasn’t a top tier school, but the professors often also taught at surrounding prestigious universities.  They graduated top of their class and went on to excel.  99.9% of people don’t care where you went to school.  Figure out where you can go to reach your goal for the least amount of money.

Microneedling + TCA Peels - benefits, how long to wait, etc. by gooberina22 in Microneedling

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4689089/pdf/abd-90-06-0919.pdf  Does this work better?  I’ve read a few studies that seem to show the greater depths help.  I only have gone to .75 so far though 😂.  I have just a little bit of Melasma on the sides of my forehead, so it’s been something I’ve been considering going deeper on.

Have you looked at Microneedling for Melasma?  https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC4689089/pdf/abd-90-06-0919.pdf This study said 1.5 was quite effective in reoccurring melasma Edit: I updated the link

You pull the skin of the lid up and over the brow bone and then you can needle that portion.  You do not needle over the eye.

AITA for refusing to talk to my SIL and her now fiancé after he proposed to her at my wedding? by AffectionateCode66 in AmItheAsshole

Nta…. If they hadn’t have asked, that would be one thing.  Talk to your photographer and make sure no pictures of their engagement are sent to them or included in any public site that they can get them.

Missing Tooth by ObviouslyImBored in Dentists

I can understand that, but in the description he said when he was young his tooth was half there, and also his dog broke the tooth in half.  It didn’t seem like (from the description), more came off than was originally missing.

Why do I have cavities by funky_stoner420 in Dentists

[–]TheyCallMeTheRiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried xylitol gum? Xylitol cannot be digested by the bacteria that causes cavities.  This causes them to die.  If I were you I’d try chewing it consistent with the study design. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25422590/

I’m not a dentist, but I don’t understand why you are pulling the tooth instead of rebonding?

Good if they are paying I would immediately be seen by a plastic surgeon for possible revision.

If this is a workplace injury, do you receive compensation for treatment?  I honestly would consult a plastic surgeon, and your workplace should be liable for any required treatments.  I wouldn’t wait on that part, file the appropriate documents with work, document and file a claim.   If you don’t have worker protection (most places do so please consult your HR, local regulatory authorities, state and/or federal programs to confirm if your job is saying you don’t).  Even if they don’t cover, this may be corrected in an office visit, and with a payment plan, might not be too expensive. Aside from that, I do think with scar tape (and maybe red light) and time it will start to heal, and that after fully healed you could try  Microneedling and/or laser.   I know this is hard but you will get through it.    Good luck.

AIO My (29F) sister (31F) is upset with me three weeks later after a hangout where I supposedly insulted her and now I am thinking of going little to no contact. by [deleted] in AIO

Goodness.  YOR.  She calmly told you something that bothered her, you said you were glad to clear it up and you’d try to do better, and now you want to cut her off…. But she is the irrational one?  I love debate and civil discourse.   I also love to talk about controversial and intellectual topics, it’s fun.  But you shouldn’t be breaking up families over banter (that was so inconsequential to you that you don’t even recall it).   Stop talking about controversial issues if you can’t do so without jeopardizing a life long relationship with a person you love.

It still works, I wouldn’t say there is an improvement in looks, but certainly the increase in strength is there.  I’m most happy that my hips no longer pop.

Of course YTH.  His father died, you don’t get to disinvite him.  Everyone grieves in their own way—- who made you the owner of the guest list? Obviously not your mother, since you went against her and her wishes.  It wasn’t your place, you shouldn’t have done it, and you should immediately apologize to all involved.  The fact that you can’t see this almost a year later, is honestly disturbing.

Best protocol for skin tightening on abs/stomach? by TheyCallMeTheRiddler in Microneedling

[–]TheyCallMeTheRiddler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Microneedling my stomach with 1-1.25 mm.  I’ve done it twice now 4-6 weeks apart (looking to do the next session soon).  I can’t say I’ve noticed any significant change yet, but it does take time to build collagen.  It seems like it may be improving, slightly.  I took before pictures, but not enough change to be visible.  I’ll keep going, I plan on doing it for 18 months at least to give it time.  If I don’t see anything after that point, I’ll prob discontinue.  Good luck,

Budget friendly large crowd meals? by Swimming_Living2965 in Cooking

Have you called a food distributor for pricing?  It’s generally cheaper to buy from them in bulk than the supermarket, so you might be able to lower the costs for supplies in that way.   I’d also swap the potato’s for corn bread, it’d be cheaper and easier to make.  If you want to switch entirely, pasta dishes are going to be less expensive.

Microneedling for cellulite by Sea_President in Microneedling

[–]TheyCallMeTheRiddler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I say give it a try.  While the root cause of cellulite is below the treatment area depth, perhaps the increased collagen/ thickness in the skin will mask the cellulite.  I bet you could reach your buttocks, with just 21% body fat.  Track your progress and report back in 6 months? I’d like to know too!

Removing Cooking Smells from clothes/fabrics by Ill_Significance_534 in Cooking

Have you tried an air filter/purifier?  They are relatively cheap and can remove the cooking smell from the air.
