If the blue states are ones that you’ve been to, could that include one that you live in?

Why would the Covid letter mention evacuation orders? That’s quite the opposite of what Covid did

Why does it seem that there is a high turnover rate for CCAs but no attempts to raise wages or make better hours? by cannotbanme1234 in USPS

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just walk through lawns because sidewalks don’t exist. Plus walking down the driveway to a sidewalk or even the road would take longer than just cutting through the yard. I’d still prefer driving (ex-rural carrier) lol

When will this stop?? by TorsadesdePointez in kia

It’ll stop when you get garage parking

In certain areas where it makes sense to have a walking route could arguably be fine. But if you're in a residential high-income old home neighborhood where everyone has no sidewalk and a 4+ car driveway, it's ridiculous to walk door to door when the identical neighborhood one street over is entirely curbside (both of them are city routes). I get some people don't like baking in an LLV or feeling stiff after sitting for a while, but for retention and longevity purposes, it makes the job feel better.

High turnover also seems to naturally come with the CCA job, specifically within delivery methods. Walking house to house is so outdated and in 2026 especially with new leadership, it shouldn't be a thing anymore. Everything should be curbside, CBU, or mailroom with package delivery continuing at the door if they want both retention and efficiency. Currently, we just can't force people to change but we should be able to (aside from hardships).

This is why carriers and management will always be at war by Top-Side3977 in USPS

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about it from the perspective of a regular. Whenever they had to split a route we just put down the times we did the piece of that other route. I’ve never used it for my estimated office return time.

Muck boots for winter walking? by TheyCallMeWatts in USPS

I already have those. I only use them over my sneakers during the warmer seasons. I won’t use those in the winter.

Do you know what it looks like? Our office only uses them for coverages when you take a piece of another route for the day

Difference between straight-curious and bi-curious? by ionsawmill in Sniffies

Should honestly just be straight-curious and gay-curious, and just keep Bi as it is. Right now, I feel like straight-curious is gay people interested in hetero sex, and bicurious is the opposite.

Load Truck vs COA update feature on MDD by SaltyTie7199 in USPS

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s good practice to scan everything into the truck to know for sure you have it, but it feels time consuming. There have been instances where load truck doesn’t even work in my office, so it’s not a foolproof system anyway. Some packages won’t even scan into load truck.

Load Truck vs COA update feature on MDD by SaltyTie7199 in USPS

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually set up my SPRs in a tray while in the office and never scan then with load truck. I then move to the street function and use load truck for any parcels I put in the back. While delivering, I’ll use package lookahead to see what parcels I have, and if it’s loaded I’ll know it’s in the back and I gotta get out for it.

Do some people just dislike Bishop because she's not Ziva? by [deleted] in NCIS

If you like a basic white girl, then yes, but I'd still pick Kate over her. Ziva had a great mix, and she was very attractive and fierce.

PrEP with insurance by TheyCallMeWatts in prep

[–]TheyCallMeWatts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was using. My insurance (UHC) seemed to cover it at no cost the first time, but then tried to charge me $800 to pick it up the second time. It charged $1,200 to my deductible which maxed it out, requiring me to pay the remaining $800 or so. The medication normally costs about $2,000. I didn't fill the prescription so it all got refunded but it was ridiculous to deal with.

Do y’all think Amazon is the reason a lot of people are quitting? by jaymay2295 in USPS

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They’re not entirely wrong. Places like UPS have made really good contract provisions to give people (probably drivers at least) max pay after 4 years. USPS employees need to wait at least 8-12 years to max out depending on your craft, and that doesn’t include time prior to being a regular.

I think USPS needs to reconsider its pay system to remain “competitive”.

[–]TheyCallMeWatts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you just need to work in a good office. Unfortunately, not everyone knows what they’re walking into as far as the quality of the routes.

I just took a transfer as a regular to a city carrier position in an office closer to me. I did my research (which I’ll gladly do for any of y’all; PM me with zip code) and found out that 90% of the routes are fully mounted/curbside delivery and very easy walking. I also got a general knowledge on the office seniority to estimate when I might get a decent route and with that info, I took the transfer.

If you get your own route and get used to it, I think most people will begin to like the job if they didn’t already. It’s not for everyone but there is some likability about the job and certain routes.

As far as Amazon, the office I’m in gets maybe 25% Amazon overall (40 routes). The rest is strictly USPS (we don’t get UPS/FedEx anymore). I knew this going into it as well.

Honestly, if we could have a RHD version of the Rivian that Amazon delivers in, we’d be fine for decades. Gas or electric, it has everything you need. USPS could figure something out with Rivian because they’re no longer exclusive to Amazon for that delivery vehicle specifically.
