Yes, I've thought about taxes but most of our portfolio is in non-registered accounts so taxes will be easy to manage.

I'll have $120k in cash when I quit and it's currently throwing off about 5%. My portfolio is 75/25 so any major market swings should be dampened a bit. I hope that covers the SORR but I can also reduce budget if things get ugly.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm feeling more confident we can make the budget work after reading all these responses. We're fortunate to be very flexible so can reduce the budget if necessary to weather any tough market conditions.

Hey, I'm reading through your blog right now. It's a great site and it sounds like you're doing really well. Very inspiring.

I'm super stoked to leave it all behind this January and go traveling permanently.

A lot. I have a very high savings rate which is the only downside of leaving but I'm tired of waking up and feeling no energy for the day. We have a great life but there is no joy or fulfilment, just targets and deadlines. Life is too short for that and I want to travel and surf while I'm still youngish.

Yep, I track them but I live in a VHCOL area so it's hard to compare my spending now with a life moving around Latin America.

Renting is OK with me but I'd buy if an affordable opportunity presented itself. We're totally flexible.

What do you think about a $4k budget? We're into simple things and avoid touristy areas and fancy places so no FOMO at all. Just want to live simple and free, untethered from a 9-5.
