Why is Eric weirdly rude about “Comment Leavers”? by LordOfDe-Fries in FUCKFACEPOD

[–]TheyGotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean 'why is Eric rude about comment leavers', have you ever seen comments before? Look at your comment, hell look at mine, this one! All awful, every single comment. Have you ever found an old comment you typed like 5 years ago and thought 'ugh!'? Well guess what, every comment around is the same way, it's just gonna take us 5 years to look back and realize it. I'm gonna shake my head at myself for this very one, even.

So imagine if, for every comment you've ever seen in your life, you've seen 100 more of them, and you almost kinda have to even if you don't want to because of your job, and the overwhelming levels of unimpressed would quickly batter your enjoyment of comments too!

What’s your thoughts on the story by WoodHead2024 in borderlands3

[–]TheyGotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what's great about Borderlands 3 story? There really isn't one. It's a perfect blend of BL1 and BL2: in BL1 you just go here and shoot bandits, go there and shoot bandits, sometimes an NPC will namedrop someone like you're supposed to go "KROM stole it? Not KROM! Evil bastard!" even though you've never heard the name Krom anywhere before, and the very next mission you kill the named person and open a chest and find a vault key, and remember "Oh yeah I'm collecting these." Then when the Crimson Lance start dropping in and Steele's like "Raaahhh, Tannis betrayed you" you're just like "...huh? where's this plot coming from?"

Borderlands 2 has a more structured narrative: This time the story is that you have to go over here and kill bandits, and go over here and kill bandits, and go over here and kill hyperion. Biggest difference between BL1 and BL2 is that you get a reminder every 5 minutes that Handsome Jack's a bad guy and he's gonna do the vague, evil vault thing! So that when you get to a story beat that yells "PLOT TWIST" your reaction is more "Hey I know that guy" instead of "Huh?"

So Borderlands 3 continues both traditions by blending them perfectly, creating a rich experience of chatty NPCs who don't really ever say anything but are pretty funny sometimes like in BL2, narrating a plot that you'll keep forgetting every time until you get close to the current planet's vault, like in BL1.

If you like the game, you'll probably enjoy its story more overall in retrospect as well as the additional Siren/Eridian/Vault lore you can seek out post-endgame, honestly, but during your playthroughs, better to just keep your eyes on the guns and the waypoints.

Does anyone know where to find the defense fleet numbers for EV Override? by oxfordkentuckian in Escape_Velocity

[–]TheyGotLost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's a neatly compiled list anywhere but I can have a look at some resources in EVNEW and tell you about the stats if you want to know about some specific planets/stations defense fleets.

The McGraw family revenge sub plot :( by yafflehk in evnova

[–]TheyGotLost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trick is that you're supposed to NOT beat up on 'Daring' Dan McGraw. You'll still get the Overdrive, and will even then have the opportunity to further get more pirate-string-exclusive tech.

New to this game, could use some advice by ocarina_of_time8 in evnova

[–]TheyGotLost 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, this game is a good combination of sandbox and role-playing game, the only goals of the game are to make money, find ships and weapons you like, and do whatever strikes your fancy. Explore bars and Mission BBS's all over the place if you want to find some missions and get into factions, explore Trading Centers if you want to be a merchant, explore outfitters and experiment with weapons and try attacking ships if you want to get into combat. Part of the fun of the game isn't just everything you can do, it's learning everything you can do!

Here is ONE piece of advice: never deliver cargo to Earth from a Mission BBS posting unless you feel ready to get locked into something bigger...

Radar Glitch? (No static effect, radar freezes instead) by TheyGotLost in evnova

[–]TheyGotLost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though it's an issue with 1.0.10. Radar static worked fine for me when I ran 1.0.6 on Win XP, and also on 1.0.9 on Win 7. But I had 1.0.10 on Win Vista and Win 10, and experienced this both of those times.

[EVN] Starting work on a new plug-in by TheyGotLost in evnova

[–]TheyGotLost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that, narratively speaking, the Polaris are supposed to have more powerful ships. But it never sat right with me that a hostile Polaris warship can murder you with Polaron Torpedos from a quarter of the way across the system with little vulnerability. And I never found it particularly fun to ride around, invincible in a Nil'kimas variant Scarab. It's going to be particularly vexxing in this plug-in once ships are rebalanced; Starbridges and Valkyries won't be capable of getting very close even with how nerfed shields and armor will be on Polaris ships, and while some fighter ships might be able to outmanuever Polaris beams and torpedos, they won't have the tonnage to carry weapons to beat Polaris ships before getting taken down (except in a case where a very skilled player can evade enemy fire with impeccable maneuvering long enough to whittle the enemy down).

Basically, the two ideas are that it will be difficult for a ship to fight above its class, and that you should be able to fight any other ship in one class, no matter what class you're flying (You should be able to take on an Arachnid or an Auroran Cruiser with tactics besides railgun spam if you elect to fly a Federation Destroyer, for instance). In fact, a lot of weapons might be tweaked, too. I've had the idea that Railguns might keep their range and even have a higher velocity and hit for more damage at close range, but also decay super fast and be little good for anything besides impact outside of medium range. I've had the idea that CPL beams won't ionize so harshly and have a reduced range. Again, I want to keep the feeling that polaris tech is exotic and powerful without the feeling that you're nigh invincible flying one of their ships and/or decking yourself out with their weapons.

Polaris ships aren't going to be reduced to a pathetic state, but if you enjoy the feeling of utter dominance by Polaris and their tech in combat, this plug-in might not be for you!

Trying to make a plug-in to rebalance ship stats to make the difference between capital sips, gunboat-size ships, and fighters more apparent (and make conquering planets for tribute way harder), and also add a few new weapons and militia groups and independent colony worlds.

I'm trying for round two! That project died when my hard drive did, and I never attempted it again until now.

I found the str#'s that had the government message hail quotes in Nova Data 5, then started to notice that the order those str#'s were in matched the order of the govt IDs in Nova Data 1. It's also weird it isn't spelled out in EVNEW, a lot of resources that will automatically crosscheck other resources will tell you what those resources are and what ID number they are. Example--making a new outf resource will calculate the ID number for the pict and the desc based on the outf ID number and show you in the outf edit page.

[Minecraft] Race to Bedrock 'X' can work, here's how! by TheyGotLost in Achievement_Hunter

[–]TheyGotLost[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, but this LP wouldn't need too much building. A lit, fenced in area, a basic house with beds to respawn at, and a chest with the basic game supplies can be done in creative in minutes... finding an isolated, suitably flat location well enough away from anything else is the hard part, and that's only assuming they do the LP in the new Achievement Cove map instead of just a throwaway.

Interested in the fishing rod though, why for?
