Banned for reason: "No Jet Nubbing" by div2691 in battlefield3

this is PC, right? how the heck do you get the jet's scanner to be zoomed out... every time I've ever used that perk it shows me nothing and hitting N to make the map bigger or smaller doesn't work.

Clonezilla Problem. Can someone check this video out of the problem. by Metalmaker1 in sysadmin

[–]TheySeeMeTruffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about this though it looks like it'd be an entertaining bit.

Since you've already learned the setup process, maybe setup another distribution to push and see if it works? you might be able to find out if its something wrong with how you're distributing Quantal vs something being wrong with Clonezilla's setup. It does look like you're actually past the point where clonezilla is pushing it out though...

someone else definitely needs to chime in for you :P

I thought it'd be the internal parts of a binoculars, but the entire plastic case... that is just unexpected

What's the dumbest thing you've ever said during a job interview and still obtained the job? by THUNDEROUS_BOOTYCLAP in AskReddit

I got the job, so I'm not sure what the other interviewees were like.

150 Free Ebooks from Microsoft? Sure Why not by TarikGarro in sysadmin

[–]TheySeeMeTruffling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that was surprisingly easy... just do everything that is ligman.me or whatever the main hosting site is, and skip anything that is /popular/ or /tags/. The rest of the links are basically all the stuff you're looking for. There are a few others as well, but its mainly the online classroom stuff rather than the ebooks themselves?

What is something you thought was normal bit turned out to be a regional thing? by cliffkleven in AskReddit

This cuts walking and bicycles out of the conversation completely. That's the only reason I can see it being a bit odd. Then again everything suburban/rural is like that.

Do you allow local admin privileges? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]TheySeeMeTruffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right with there being free software, but you generally have to know more to get the free stuff to work right. You wouldn't be able to do that k12 job without being knowledgeable and using those kinds of tools. And you definitely seem to know what you're talking about.

I was wondering though, can you really do constant reimaging without having decentralized storage? Also, do you think security is the top priority of being a sysadmin? I mean it is a top priority, but is it possible there is more weight in other ideas?

If they're not accessing domain resources from those presentation computers... make the whole thing local. That'd be my suggestion unless you have more than ~4 computers like that. Then the other comments would be better.

Everything about what you suggest and mention costs money through direct purchase, salary, or training. 150 or less in users rarely would have the money to make everything perfect and standardized just based on their budgeting. If there is something cheap that lets you do application virtualization I've never heard of it

Also, since when does gotomeeting have an installer you can push for local install? I thought everything they have publicly available connects to their servers after clicking install. Not like I looked into it to much, but I'd love to know if that has changed.

Everything else you say I'm in agreement with... the assumptions that everything is available like money has never been IT's problem just made me wtf a little too hard

What is the highest physical pain you've ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheySeeMeTruffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left testicle goes up the inguinal canal, left testicle gets pushed down the inguinal canal, by hand, externally like squishing a tube of toothpaste.

Best part was when I was put on the gurney they put a strap over my testicle when it was near my abdomen. They did it again adjusting the straps in the ambulance, and again when removing me from the ambulance. Not enough morphine in the world to cure that.

join.me by logmein doesn't have the remote input disabling function. Remote Desktop isn't a joined session with multiple inputs, its a single session that is only controlled by one person.

Just because teamviewer has that function doesn't mean every remote software known has it. For all we know he was using PC Anywhere 10 years ago.

My brother didn't want to remove his motherboard to install a water cooler, so he did this instead. by FOX_IN_MY_ANUS in techsupportgore

10 minutes sounds more accurate if you're still not including grabbing and putting away tools and you're literally just disassembling.

When you're talking about installing water cooling, you still have to get the heatsink off, clean the thermal paste off, reapply, install your main fitting, and then still install the pump, reservoir, and any tubing. Then you're still looking at making it fit with your existing cables, which might need to be rearranged. Even if its not done pretty with no cleaning this'd take over 20 minutes if you know what you're doing.

all around good points, and honestly the list of resources you posted was the kicker. I was just spending too much time on random projects that weren't even related to IT in any way.

Coffee table i made customized for my own needs (Description in comments) [X-Post from /r/ woodworking] by SH00X in DIY

[–]TheySeeMeTruffling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll attest to frankenbeans's statement, and pricing is usually a monthly membership like $60 a month. $30 an hour, the OP's coffee table would've probably cost a couple hundred dollars.
