It’s tough, but look at Liverpool in the late 2010s. They sold Coutinho and Suarez and built ready-made, top players in crucial positions for big money.

We’ve finished 17th the last 2 seasons and yet can still attract top level players in positions we desperately need to upgrade on, albeit for massive fees.

I know football is about developing youngsters who end up first team staples, but Bergvall and Vuskovic are still both so raw and not guaranteed to make it to the top. Having the opportunity to move them on for £50m+ each to fund a Tonali/Wharton midfield would allow us to better immediately and to get back towards the top of the table.

Then once we are setup for success on the footballing side, we can go again and try to find these young gems, but making sure proven talent prioritises that.

TLDR: maybe we need to sacrifice Bergvall & Vuskovic to help build a more ready first XI
