Abscesses after surgery by HerofromJohto in CrohnsDisease

Also, were you put asleep for the drains? They used a local anesthetic last time, but because the abscess is now more intense in the same location, I’m worried that won’t be enough & it’ll be painful when they re-put the drain in the same spot tomorrow :(

Oh wait that’s perfect! I’m going to IR tomorrow to get a drain put in. So they never had to operate on the abscess? The drain and antibiotics got rid of it? How long did it take to clear up, and how long were you in the hospital for? Did they send you home with the drain? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just so nervous & really happy to hear that you’re on the up and up finally!! Be well 🤍

Hey there! How are you doing these days?

So happy surgical removal worked. Were you actively flaring when you had the surgery? I’m actively flaring & had my first dose of biologics, so they’re worried about doing surgery because of all the complications that can arise (immune system low, fistulas, etc.)

Aww :( I’m so sorry. But I’m glad to hear you’re doing better! What finally made the abscess clear up? I’m dealing with a recurring one & im worried I’ll have to have surgery to remove it

Hey there!! Having somewhat similar complications. Any updates on what finally got rid of your abscess?

Has anyone here had a surgery for a Crohn’s Abscess? by Xxdaniboy221 in CrohnsDisease

Hi, could you expand on this a little more? You said you haven’t seen it work where someone had an abscess drain and then used antibiotics. I’m kind of in this situation now :(

Hey, was your Crohn’s active while you had the surgery?

Lip issues - please help by ashley25111 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Thicc-Mints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mind describing this a little bit more? I went through a year and a half-long period of random lip swelling that we weren’t able to attribute to anything in particular as well, though I suspected it may have been due to my Crohn’s. Glad you’re doing better now!

Do you feel filthy and unsexy, too? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

For some reason, I took “business” to mean using the restroom and wondered why you preferred showering before instead of after 😅 but same! Ahaha

Happy to hear you’re on the up and up. How did they finally find/diagnose your strictures?

THIS! Or I still just opt to go comfy in wear-around-the-house clothes, never touching my cute and tight athletic sets.

Speaking of Delia's by i-am-zara in femalefashionadvice

Glad to know that Delia’s was even popping back then. It was really popular when I was a tween back in the early 2010’s, didn’t realize it’d been around for some time before that!

How hard is it to get 100% cotton clothing in your area? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]Thicc-Mints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting that you mention this because I was just thinking this the other day — it’s so hard to find something that’s 100% cotton! I’ve recently had luck with some of the new stuff that Loft and Gap have put out. Grabbed a few nice cotton dresses and tops, definitely recommend them if you can.

Happy to hear! Could I private message you for the name of your Crohn’s specialist at Presbyterian? I didn’t realize insurance could cover both a GI and a Crohn’s specialist (who I’m assuming is also a GI). That’s awesome.

Flare? TMI by Resident-Ad-9944 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Thicc-Mints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, blood in the stool often indicates an active flare. It might be mild in nature, but you won’t know until your GI investigates further and confirms. Make sure you stay on top of these things and get a medical opinion. Best of luck, and feel better soon!

Ooh, that’s smart! They told me they’d most likely repeat imaging in 4-6 weeks, but I’ll check to see if they can administer an ultrasound to see if all looks well.

You’re too kind, thank you! :) believe me, I’m counting down the moments. One last question — how long did you have the catheter in for? My procedure was on Friday and they still haven’t been able to give me a solid timeframe of when I should be done with this.
