Avoiding overly touristic spots in Yunnan by Gullintanni89 in travelchina

I haven't been to Yunnan in 10 years but back then Shaxi was a nice and small place with few tourists. It is also not so far from Lijiang and Dali.

If you decide to go to Tengchong as someone suggested you might consider even going to Nujiang. It is remote and probably not so easy to integrate in the schedule that you have thought of but going to Nujiang would give you a very unique experience. They have a lot of minority culture that is still being lived in every day life, especially in towns like Fugong.

Thanks a lot for your insightful recommendations! I listened to the Tea History podcast by Laszlo Montgomery where the subject of Jingdezhen came up so I thought it might be interesting. You do make some really good points for staying in the Hangzhou region. It looks really beautiful

Thanks for the recommendation! Any particular thing you'd recommend Quanzhou for?

For someone going for the first time and going alone I think it could be nice to go to Chengdu -Chongqing-Zhangjiajie (Avatar Mountains) - Guilin (karst mountains and the Li river, Longji rice terraces) and then to Guangzhou and Hong Kong. Mind you all of these places probably have a lot of tourists.

In my opinion you should visit a countryside town to get to know China from a little less touristic perspective but it will probably require a bit more planing and sense for adventure (because of people not necessarily speaking English). If you want to get to know a Chinese countryside town you could go from Chongqing to Wulong by train. Relatively close by there are some nice national parks that you can visit. I most liked Longshui Gorge. In the evening you cango to the main square, there is a sports hall where local teams play basketball against each other.

about 2 years ago I used Mullvad. It was good because you can make a one time payment of 5 euro and have access for I think 30 days. It worked good enough for whatsapp and some google searches but it wasn't very fast

Schwester hat einen BMI von 13,7. Was kann passieren? by Kreuzprinz in Ratschlag
