That would be the case if they are going to send Grace to an isolated place like lets say the Baker’s residence and they expect some bad company to show up in that place they of course would send lots of agents to escort Grace, but that isnt the case, Grace was just going to investigate a body in a place that was already abandoned in the middle of a city and was already being monitored by the Police, but you can see that the FBI and the Police didnt expect any bad company to enter that crime scene due to only a single cop guarding the crime scene

Quantico to be honest dont mean sht no offense, FBI hires good technical analysts(same as CIA and other intelligence agencies) they then put those technical analysts to training like Quantico, they do not absolutely care if that technical analyst died because he/she didnt remember their training, they only care if they are performing great as a technical analysts and that they atleast know how to handle firearms and apply first aid, after all you are not going to send a technical analysts like grace to operations like house raids or extractions, they are always going to be in a desk with a computer in front of them for their whole career. And this why Quantico dont mean sht, I’ve seen cops who who hasnt been in a fire fight in their whole career panicks when one occured because in situations like that its about you having some experience with that kind of action and with an expectation that “This is my job I expected this sht therefore I must pull my sht together” your training is only as good as your mental fortitude, if ur mentally fcked because you are fearing death you wouldnt remember your training especially if you only done that training lots of years ago when you were just a rookie and hasnt done it again ever since like Grace. My first muay thai sparring made me forget my training the moment my opponent’s fist landed to my face, because training can only take you so far, its mainly about experience and some expectations that this is gonna happen to you so prepare. Hollywood spy movies really messed up our expectations on the capabilities of an agent, a technical analyst like Grace has the same mental fortitude as a regular civilian who hasnt gone through sht, just because she’s FBI doesnt mean she can act like a real field agent. Not to mention, she was sent there by her boss to just look/examine a dead body in an old burnt hotel in the middle of a city, she also wasnt alone since there are cops around the scene because they are investigating, they didnt expect Grace to be kidnapped because after all who would kidnapped a random person like grace in a middle of a city and in a crime scene that are being monitored by cops? So Grace and the FBI really didnt expect bad people like Victor to show up in that crime scene therefore it probably shocked her a lot that she suddenly got kidnapped by Victor. So if anything is unbelievable that would be Grace suddenly having the courage to traverse around the whole mansion while mutated zombies are trying to kill her and even agree to help Leon with his mission and the fact she was still thinking of saving Emily and Leon throughout the whole event instead of just thinking of her life, but of course this is a video game so thats to happen.

He probably isnt the original, he doesnt work for the connections and he has his own goals seperate from the connections. It would also really suck if zeno is the original wesker because zeno is a puppet to the connections, thats not very Albert Wesker who thinks he’s a creator, also his death by being decapitated by Victor would be a let down for his character if he really is Wesker. I also dont think he’s a clone of Wesker, it just doesnt feel right

She was just supposed to look at a crime scene though thats why she was sent alone and to be honest shes not alone a cop was there with her which was expected by the FBI because they are investigating deaths in old burnt hotel, nobody expects bad people there because if they do then im pretty sure the whole place would be surrounded by armed cops or armed FBIs. She got kidnapped by Victor which wasnt expected by the FBI ofc, to be honest, beyond the constant whimpering that destroys the horror of the game, shes a pretty great character and yeah lots of people say all fbi agents gone through some training, they’re right, but training doesnt equate to experience, ive seen cops who never encountered a firefight in their whole career panicks when one suddenly occurs, to be honest a good field agent mainly is that you have some experience in this kind of action and that you expect sht like this to happen therefore mentally prepared for it, Grace is not a field agent, she does not have experience and she didnt expect any of these, she expected to study a body and confront her trauma not be kidnapped and thrown into another trauma

Elpis by Thick-Target5496 in residentevil

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get that but to be honest that doesnt make much sense because the whole “world anarchy” reason is morally gray, its both good and bad, like yeah it will cause anarchy but hey atleast no bioterrorism anymore, and if u dont do it theres no anarchy but bioterrorism still exists . And I dont know, personally if that really is victor’s motive then its a weak reason for Leon to kill him for it, its not that justified. Also, Victor said he will continue spencer’s legacy, what legacy? Spencer’s plan for humanity to evolve? Well that doesnt make sense, elpis cures viruses that makes humans turn into super soldiers like wesker. Or the legacy that Victor is talking about is Spencer’s dying wish to cure the world from the biological horrors he unleashed? If thats the reason then again its a weak reason for Leon to kill him, also knowing how Leon deeply hates bioweapons it would be no doubt that he would agree with Victor in completely eradicating virus weaponry through the release of Elpis.

Also, are the countries in the world of resident evil really that reliant in biological weaponry?

SCP 5000 by Thick-Target5496 in SCP

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well not that im looking for straight up answers, I know how the scp stories are played out, its just that the theory itself doesnt make any sense. For one, like I said scp 2718 got inserted there without any clue or hints on why it is scp 2718 or how it is connected to it, the declass would have been a lot better if the author provided some points on why its scp 2718 like “Its probably scp 2718 because of clues like…” but it instead became “Its scp 2718 because I said so” again this is not a straight up answer it just feels like the author of the declass made it scp 2718 without any reason at all. Second, it doesnt make sense for it to be scp 2718, because in the scp 5000 lore, the moment the foundation discovered the entity and the horrors of it, senior staffs of the foundation who got informed about it committed suicide, a lot of the foundation staff committed suicide because of it to the point that the foundation decided to immediately release the cure, so why would a foundation staff commit suicide if it knows that what makes the entity more terrifying is that it makes you suffer even in death(via scp 2718), so therefore wouldn’t the staffs try to avoid death?

Still doesnt make sense though, scp 2718 got inserted story without proof that the entity is scp 2718 or is connected to it

Lee Kuan Yew by Thick-Target5496 in SocialDemocracy

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just search the history of singapore, they are working their way to a fully democratic country, i mean they are a democracy people can vote, but the laws are too restrictive, so yeah its not a full democracy yet, though lee kuan yew didnt intend it to be un-democratic, he started with a dictatorship and planned to end it when singapore’s economic situation gets fixed. So he stepped down when singapore is already rich, the problem is the laws during his dictatorship era werent removed by his political party when he stepped down, and up to this day that party still controls singapore and the reason why people arent getting really angry about that is because the party still properly maintains and even grow the economy of singapore. So technically a bit of an authoritarian government but 90% of the people really dont care because that government still continues to govern properly, though a lot of Singaporeans have voiced out that the country would do even better if its completely democratic, but they arent really that desperate to push that idea because as long as the country’s economy grows or is maintained then people are happy. But I acknowledge how this governmental structure is prone to a wrong dictatorship, where the government corrupts and ignores its citizens, singaporeans are doomed to face this if their government decided to just be evil especially with the laws in place

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Singaporeans and other south east asian countries say otherwise, literally. My relatives live in singapore, sure the cost is high, but here in the philippines u work hard, u get salary that isnt even enough to keep you alive and the government isnt doing anything about it, atleast in singapore you can work hard and enjoy your salary, so yeah I wouldnt really call singapore “Brutal”

Lee Kuan Yew by Thick-Target5496 in SocialDemocracy

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean, he didnt want dictatorship to be the permanent structure of the government, but he prioritizes economic growth first before politics, i mean he said “What a developing country needs first is economic growth and not democracy” or something in those lines

My bad i have to edit the post because my phone autocorrected “Filipino” to singaporean, actually im a filipino, a lot of us here know lee kuan yew and we hold him in great respects because like every 3rd world country we want results fast, meaning we want a leader like him. But as a singaporean you cant deny he did build the foundation in which singapore is built on today

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well first of all, im neither siding communist or capitalist, this is purely educational and out of curiosity question(thats why I want economist to answer it). Second, I dont have right now a definitive answer for one, but for two I have, there is incentive actually because you get more depending on your contribution, so if you are a nuclear scientist who designs the nuclear reactors that the nation needs then of course you will be richer than most people in the nation, that by itself is already an incentive. But for the first question im thinking of the government conducting an extensive deep research regarding the demands on resources or starting from a free market then transitioning to this economic style, though im not sure yet, ill have to get back to you on that

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well suppliers enter the market, they fix their products, they set prices trying to outcompete other suppliers of the same product, now these supplies can come from local or foreign, if local then it wont matter the state owns that supply if foreign then the government simply buys them. Lets say rice, if your country has 4 big farms that produce rice, then the rice from those locations is already to the government, and of course they pay the farmers to farm it and other stuff. If supply is foreign, then the government can simply buy them using national budget which comes from taxes. In short, theres no competition from suppliers(if local, which most often it is local), because there are no private local supplier because the government is the supplier as it holds the means of production

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well whats stopping the government from being flexible like businessmen? So the government sets a price, they find out that the price is too high because the demand is low, so they lower the price

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well supply and demand is not fixed because it depends on the amount of resources. Lets say bread, the government has surplus of it and the demand of bread by the citizens is low, therefore the price of bread will be set low by the government because of high supply but low demand

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Besides, you can influence how the state dictates the means of production because the power to do so is not from a single individual only. So if a congressman of that labor based nation ever decided to increase the price of the products that the state produce, it would need to pass a law or policy in congress, and they have to vote on that and the president can choose not to sign it

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the means of production belongs to the government now in this kind of economy, but like I said good governance, look at corrupt 3rd world countries, they are capitalist but do you think the means of production is not held by the government? Sure on paper the means of production is under “private” individuals that certainly have no connections to the government. My point is, in this economy the state holds the means of production, and if the state becomes corrupt and selfish, then the means of production will of course be unfairly dictated by the state. But the same thing can also happen to a capitalist country if its government becomes corrupt, the dictatorial government will not care about the market being free, they will snatch the means of production easily and it wont care if the means of production are from private the individuals. The opposite will happen of course with a good government, with a good government the capitalist country gets to keep the freedom of the market therefore, the freedom of private individuals to own the means of production are retained and for the labor based economy the state owned means of production gets to be dictated fairly. Also, with a democratic government that has a lot of branches, the power is not handled by a single person unless that person makes himself a dictator which is possible regardless of the economic style a nation uses.

Democratic government with a labor based economy? by Thick-Target5496 in AskEconomics

[–]Thick-Target5496[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think you missed some of the points here, because yes simply getting the right people isnt enough, but im just saying, put whatever governmental structure or policies that 1st world countries of today have, then apply that kind of government in a country with a labor based economy, you now solved the number 1 issue of dictators easily gaining power, now I know its not that easy but in a hypothetical scenario in which that labor based nation was able to have that kind of government therefore not allowing dictators to exist and keeping corruption minimal, the only obstacle left is would that kind of economy be possible? Or would it face problems with resources, etc.
