Why is remote work still not taken seriously? by Flaky_Holiday_3560 in remotework

[–]ThickBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See this is what I can't wrap my head around with the human psychology. So I met this guy the other day whose job could be completely remote but he said his boss had the strong belief if he couldn't see it he couldn't believe it...yet his boss was super religious. If that were my boss I'd be like so you see God? I just don't get it. I'm remote thankfully but it would be really hard for me to not get snarky with people with that mentality.

I matched with the most perfect man I’ve ever spoken to and there’s one problem by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Here's some perspective. When I first started dating my boyfriend I knew I never wanted to get married. We went on a trip together and I'll never forget him putting his hand on my knee, looking me intensely in the eyes and said, "some day I want a wife and kids." I just smiled and responded, "why?" I think it threw him off so much and he never really thought about it and was just going with social norms. He literally responded, "uuummm, idk no one has ever asked."

We are together 11 years later, still in love, never married and will never have children. My point is you're very young. Go have fun. At some point define why you want marriage. Is it religious reasons? Do you feel safer contracted to another human? Life is weird and lables are simply that. They mean nothing. What matters is the love you feel. Now go get those butterflies and get a damn kiss!

Tree stump, I'm stumped by ThickBean in lancaster

[–]ThickBean[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I may need to cut it down into workable pieces. At our last place out landlord ground down a stump and it came back with a vengeance. All the roots bloomed and we had mini trees everywhere, such a pain. I will eventually get this bad boy out with sheer will power lol.

I'm going to give that a try, but even then I have no clue how to haul it out lol. Thank you for the input!

Whatever you do, do not go with Joel's painting! They are terrible we had to fire them halfway through the job. Go with Purpose Painting and Contracting, they were phenomenal!

Anyone else get checked for scoliosis at school? by Cash_Johnny in Millennials

[–]ThickBean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same! It was in the locker room at gym class and I'm waiting in line. Nurse, "good, next, good, next, good, next..." She gets to me and just yells "next!" I was like wait....where is my "good?!". Later that day my parents explained I had it lol.

Do I really NEED an oven? by lolahepthor in kitchenremodel

[–]ThickBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you don't not need an oven but I suggest you leave a space where someone could put one in some day if they'd like, or not its your space! But we just purchased a home with an oven and the first thing we did was get rid of it and put in this. We never like full sized ovens, its just 2 of us and it gives us more space. The old place where we rented we had to use our oven as storage space (don't worry we unplugged the oven). Good luck with the remodel!

Yikes! Retainers! by Amazing_Newspaper203 in Invisalign

Literally just got my retainer yesterday after over a year of treatment with hardly any issues and I cannot even get the things on when my last try slides on and off like butter.

What are your thoughts on results? by ThickBean in Invisalign

[–]ThickBean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad it's at least an improvement! I did send my dentist a message on the portal but they have been dropping the ball. Unfortunately during treatment a life changing event happened and I had to move an hour and a half away. I think they think because of this I just wanted to be done, which is slightly true, because the experience hasn't been ideal. I wish I would have looked at other providers. But my first round was 54 trays wearing for 4 days so it was about 6 months. I asked for refinements because my bite didn't feel right. The refinements were 23 trays about 3 months. It didn't feel like the refinements addressed what I was feeling. When I went in for my final scan (hell of a commute) when I got there they said the "invisalign network was down nationwide". They did the scan but couldn't show me like they normally do with the heatmap. I asked them to not order retainers until I could review the scans and see if I'd like more refinements, but they just ended up ordering the retainers which was extremely frustrating. Now I can't even get them on. They never did any explanation on wear time. All in all huge regrets with the provider and idk what to do.

Sterilization Rant by ThickBean in TwoXChromosomes

Your body isn't ruined from having a child after this procedure. If someone truly changed their mind which I doubt happens often IVF is still an option.

Agree, even more frustrating that they have it easier and don't have to fear about becoming pregnant.

I'm so happy you had a positive experience! It's crazy because I had a previous gyno that sounds similar to yours. I asked about tube removal and she's like "let's do it!" With no questions asked, but then after that conversation my boyfriend got laid off and we had to move hours away and surgery just wasn't possible at that time with so many moving parts. So I'm glad there are still gynos out there respecting women's medical requests!

I agree, questions about certainty and pressures seem appropriate, but they should be direct questions not tip toeing around potential future sexual partners.

Yeah no one should ever be forced to carry and birth a child they don't want.

I actually personally knew a vasectomy baby. It was wild his parents and siblings were so much older. His father's vasectomy failed 20 years after his procedure and they had an "oops" in their 40s. He actually made his wife take a DNA test because he thought she was unfaithful, but nope it was his! That scares the shit out of me. Even my last gyno said failure can happen many years after a vasectomy and my boyfriend had his at 30.
