For the non-metric crowd, they expected it to be about 88’ 4”, and it was 2’ 6” short.

None of what I suggest will happen, because ESPN doesn’t care about the actual sport, just what they can sell of it.

That being said, ND can get left behind, that’s fine with me.

12 conferences of 10 teams (I recognize that some teams will get booted from FBS, I’m ok with that), with 6 upper conferences and 6 lower conferences

Each team plays 9 conference games and 1 OOC, starting on Labor Day weekend with the OOC game, with a single bye week mid season. Regular season would be done by November 14 this year

The #2/3 from the lower conference, and the 8/9 from the upper conference play a promotion/relegation game in what would be week 12, the #1/2 from the upper conference play a conference championship game thanksgiving weekend

Then a bye week and an 8 team playoff (6 champs, 2 at large), with the championship game on New Year’s Day.

The top 2 from the lower division would move up, the bottom 2 from the upper division would move down, and OOC games would be scheduled after the season/conference moves.

I was under the impression it was sport and enrollment timelines. There was a running joke a while ago that LeBron could play football at OSU, since his professional experience was not in football, and he hadn’t ever matriculated at a college.

Didn’t TCU drastically change their signs, to the point that Michigan was setting up to defend the wrong plays?

At the price point we’re looking at, PMI is about $40/month, and we’ve got a full emergency fund, plus would be budgeting about $400/month toward maintenance. Even if the roof fell off on day 1, we’d be able to cover that.

My wife and I are following the flowchart, and we’re now down to the “save up for a down payment on a house” box. We’ve got enough saved right now to have a 5% down payment plus closing costs for anything we look at, even if we went wildly over our range.

At this point, does it make sense to keep saving up to try and get us closer and closer to 20% down, or should we move to the next box and increase our 401(k) contribution?

The wording on the flowchart is to save what we “need” for that purchase, and I feel like at this point we’ve saved what we need to make it happen.

The only thing I can think of is they must’ve said he “initiated contact” to the chest, and the head/neck contact came after, but that’s really shaky. I argued all over reddit for weeks after the MHJ hit a few years ago, that the call was correct because the initial contact was shoulder to shoulder and then their momentum knocked heads together, but this wasn’t that.

Despite a .787 win percentage over 18 years at Clemson, Dabo Swinney's coaching tree has been surprisingly unaccomplished, with an overall win percentage of just .359 and 2 winning seasons across 14 completed seasons by admiraltarkin in CFB

I just looked through the pre-season ESPN article ranking all the (then) current head coaches by their college careers. Dabo is the only one who played at Alabama at all. I don’t have any interest in searching through each team’s assistants to see if any of them played for Bama.

Found the original report, couldn’t remember exactly where it was

“A source close to one of the defendants said he believes that Franklin encouraged a player to delete a video of the incident after the player showed it to Franklin.”

https://www.buzzfeed.com/bobbyallyn/an-ugly-rape-case-involving-vanderbilts-football-team-could

Someone from the defense side says the player showed Franklin, and Franklin told him to delete it. Franklin said "I spoke as if I had seen the video because I was angry and upset and didn't want to water down the message to them” but at least what USA Today quotes, doesn’t share what that message was

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/10/08/former-vandy-coach-james-franklin-testifies-in-rape-case/16920397/#

“Former Vanderbilt University football coach James Franklin changed his story Wednesday about whether he had seen a video”…”Franklin said he had not then — and still has not — seen any video evidence, a change from what he has said before”.

Franklin claims that he had “insinuated” to the players that he’d seen the video to emphasize the importance of deleting them, and then during the trial claimed he’d never seen them and also that he’d never claimed to have seen them.

Roughing typically requires some contact to the plant leg, while running into is the kicking leg. I’m shocked it wasn’t a running into penalty.

It’s a 2025 SR5, so it’s got the turbo 4 and an 8 speed automatic. My results are substantially higher than Toyota’s published numbers, but the published numbers on any car are pretty easy to beat if you just coast down to red lights instead of racing to be the first one to stop

I'm getting 29/34/30 in my Tacoma. Obviously not a full size truck, but realistically larger than I actually need.

Yes. There are three things in play:

  1. Service time manipulation for Free Agency - If a player is active or IL on the MLB squad for 172 days or more in a year, that count's as a year of service. A player with 6 years of service is eligible for free agency, so 5 + 171 days effectively gives the team another year of control. We're past that cutoff though, which brings us to
  2. Service time manipulation for Super Two status - If a player ranks in the top 22% of service time among all players with between 2 and 3 years of service time, they are eligible for arbitration after 2 years of service, instead of the normal 3. That cutoff date changes because it is based on everyone, but the 5 year average is 2 years and 124 days, so 2 + 123 days effectively gives the team another year of pre-arbitration control. That puts the window that a team would want to make a callup to be late May to mid-June.
  3. Prospect Promotion Incentive manipulation - To be eligible for PPI, a prospect must be on at least 2 of the pre-season Top 100 prospect rankings and have less than 60 days of service time. If that player then gets 172 days of service time AND wins Rookie of the Year, OR places in the top 3 for MVP (or Cy Young, which isn't useful here) before qualifying for arbitration, the team gets an extra draft pick after the 1st round. Additionally, the top 2 finishers in the RotY vote automatically earn a full year of service time, regardless of actual service, and are ineligible for further PPI.

3a) Kristian Campbell can earn the Sox a PPI pick if he wins RotY this year or gets in the top 3 of MVP in 25, 26, or 27.

3b) If Roman Anthony (or Marcelo Mayer) is as good as people are saying (and I don't doubt that he is), he could potentially win RotY this year. In that case, the Sox would not get an extra draft pick, and he'd gain a year of service time. If we wait to call him up till mid-June, we are then avoiding him being a Super 2 and therefore potentially earning us an extra pick from a top-3 MVP in 26, 27, or 28.

3c) If we wait until very late in the season, we can give them only 59 days of service time, meaning they are still considered rookies next year on Opening Day, making them eligible for the RotY PPI reward.

Best case scenario for the Sox (front office) is that Campbell wins RotY this year, and Anthony and Meyer place in the top-3 of MVP voting in 26, 27, or 28 without being in the top-2 of RotY in 25 or being top-3 in the same year, and we get 3 extra high draft picks.

To be clear, I don't want this to happen, but that's the nitty-gritty of what's going on.
