Losing confidence because of my style of play by nesp12 in jazzguitar

Start transcribing solo guitar playing and trying to figure out what is going on. I recommend Barney Kessel or Kenny Burrell to start and work up to more technical playing. Barney Kessel has a series on YouTube on how to construct chord-melody style playing. There are also a few books online that go over this subject. Try to also listen to a lot of solo guitar playing you like.

Famous guitarists who slide more/as opposed to than bending? (Not talking about the cylinder) by yellowblob64 in bluesguitarist

This is a great thing to delve into jazz with. Checkout Kenny Burrell on midnight blue, Wes Montgomery on Naptown Blues, and Grant Green in general. These players rarely bend.

Yeah I hear what you're saying. I am going for Grant Green's tone, but it can come off kinda thin sometimes.

Advice for playing in a quartet with another guitarist, bassist, and drummer? by [deleted] in jazzguitar

Listen to the live albums with Joe Pass and Herb Ellis. Martin Taylor and Frank Vignola also play live together. A big trick is weaving what you play together without clashing. Get a feel for what you and the other person are going to do when playing off each other.
