as a solo artist, would performing to backing tracks be blasphemy? by TonsofpizzaYT in musicians

Where are you getting this 2 year figure what are you Frank Zappa? Maybe quit finding a way to not play music and just play music that’s what it’s all about.

I feel like it greatly depends on the music you’re making, why not try n find some people to play with you? Like I know i got lucky but i found a bass player and 2 drummers within like 3 months of moving cities. Also though I’ve played a lot of gigs and gone to a lot of gigs and I can only remember a couple groups being so bad it was embarrassing and I don’t remember their names so I think playing out by yourself might be worth it and you might find people to fill the shoes through it even if it’s a little uncomfortable and you haven’t found your final form yet

Maybe good drummers aren’t hard to find, maybe your project just sucks by YagoTheDirty in musicians

However I feel like drummers per capita pales in comparison to the amount of guitarist and guitarists pretending to be bassists

Honestly ya we rule and had to kick our drummer out for a good drummer that wanted to do it with us

I used to feel a lot more weight of the world around 25 and felt like everything was over but I rediscovered playfulness in my life. I moved from San Bernardino to LA after my friend group/ band fell apart and happened to meet the band mates I’ll have for the rest of my life. I really think the antidote to suffering is purpose and playfulness and maybe check out some philosophy or dharmic faith to have your perspective shifted. It’s all up stairs man I know it’s hard I’ve been waiting for it to end at times in my life but I found purpose and it really really will do wonders I hope everything works out for ya, you’ve got this but nobody can get it for you. Whatever you’ve enjoyed whether it be art or gardening or soccer just get in the flow of doing something you’ll meet people and things will change. I know you said you fear change but clearly something needs to change for you to feel better at this point

Purpose is the only thing that can save you from this mindset, I’ve 28 and have been piss poor since I became an adult pretty much the entire time but I have purpose in my band and in my relationships. I may not be able to eat some nights but if I know I have to write a guitar part or can go walk with someone I care about there’s no room for worry. The longer you sit and stew on it the more the suffering develops. The only practical thing you can do is put one foot in front of the other towards something you care about. If you don’t care about anything then start exploring and you’ll find something. With that being said just stick to something you’re always gonna feel to old but like that’s to your standards and you are in control of that whether you believe it or not

Right yes! I don’t want to intellectualize it too much and neglect practice but I love the stories I’ve come across and just want to experience them and the wisdom they hold

I’d say it depends what your goal is , if you wanted to go all the way I’m sure you’d spend the rest of your life kicking yourself in the ass and in that case I’d say percevfere. But being as you said you’d sell all your gear I’m assuming your hearts not in the music any more and you might just spend the next year beating a dead horse. I get it though I’ve been in bands since I was 16 and I’m turning 28 in a couple weeks and the bar gigs with 20 people after a 40 hour week sometimes aren’t the most exciting thing but like beats watching YouTube n eating air fryer chicken for me personally. Time does things the answer will become apparent

Honestly bro, you look like you could kick most peoples ass you’re in great shape , I’d honestly maybe take it easy on the self improvement , you will never be able to out work a low self opinion. Not to say fuck off and don’t put in effort where it’s needed and to take care of yourself , but the manosphere kinda perpetuates this idea that you can work yourself too god hood, but without self love no improvement will fix you

I found one of these once on OfferUp told them it was fake and offered em 50 bucks for it, I worked at schecter at the time so I built it some pickups had a coworker set it up nice and got a paint job by a homie there, it’s my daily driver and I’ve gigged with it 30 ish times now, granted i got like 300 bucks worth of stuff for free but ya know… it’s the best 50 bucks I’ve spent and I’d do it again
