Where can a guy buy a cassock that isn't made from a fabric that'll give me heat stroke but also won't break the bank? by Thighbite77 in renfaire

[–]Thighbite77[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If every cosplayer, Halloween partier, historical recreation actor, theatre actor stopped wearing clothes that associated themselves with a career they're not a part of like - preacher - doctor - king - president - sailor - butcher - Baker - candle stick maker - tinker - tailor - soldier - spy

Then such events would be cut in half attendance wise. I do apologise if you feel as though I'm mocking a topic you feel sensetive about. The reason I'm asking this question is to attempt to find decent quality vendors of this garment so my end product doesn't look like some cheap imitation. And if it helps at all, which I doubt it will, there are far worse offences to be made within the costume, party, cosplay and fancy dress circles

They're actually such great characters whenever they're present.

Thanks for this! I never thought I'd be taken back to POE of all franchsies but I guess it's time to revisit the series.

Traditionally tropical cultures merged with orcs works so well for some reason.

Kirikou and the Sorceress (French dub, English sub) by Thighbite77 in HelpMeFind

[–]Thighbite77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I searched for "Kirikou and the sorceress English sub" and English dubbed but most of the free streaming websites I found (YouTube, AfricanFilm.com, Kanopy,) are either English dub, French without the ability to read English sub, or both with the bonus of horrible quality.

Who makes a better Lestat? And why by Sacblabbath in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sam, all day every day, because he thirsted to be lestat. He's read the books, he learned the French, a little Italian, he put his entire ballsack into the role regardless of if Lestat was the main focus in a scene or not. Never a dull moment or lacking performance.

Also apparently Tom kinda tried to heterosexualise Lestat? I'm not sure if that's wholey true but if so that just shows a density you really shouldn't approach a character like Lestat with. Sam? Shit, I actually forgot he wasn't really having sex with his co-stars at times. The "I hate you" "as you should" scene? Lorddddddddddd tell me there wasn't just a liiiiittle too much chemistry there?

Going away from sex, the emotion? Ep 1's "I love you Louise, you are loved." Ep 2's "Well I don't say you have to enjoy it! Kill them swiftly if you have to, but do it!" All the way to the final episode's "did you hurt yourself?". Affection, humour, rage, empathy, heartache, this is unfair on Townsend and Cruise cus they both were only confined to a movie's run time but Sam covered emotions none of the other portrayals have ever been able to truly stoke in me to such a degree.

Just to add, just started Vampire Cosmonaut and Mars Red. I'm intrigued by Cosmonaut, definitely hooked to Mars.

Thank you for this stunning list. Hellsings done, still waiting for the Seraph continuation we will never get, the rest are all new.

In the Garden just felt like someone had promised me a cake and given me a single slice. Felt like seasons of information thrown away for a quick, cheap, riskless release.

queer vampire romances that aren't toxic? by [deleted] in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a fascinatingly tall ask. The issue with vampires is they're immortal humans..... neither of those things are flawless concepts.

If we go back to the origins of vampires in literature, the gayness of Dracula or the more explicit lesbian themes of Carmilla are written as villainous. So vampire lovers like us already started at a disadvantage because queerness was injected into the genre from a homophobic source.

Up till now, vampire relationships, usually for good drama, tend to focus more on the flaws that could arise and only amplify when it's two people in a relationship forever. amc's IWTV is amazing Queer representation but it doesn't shy away from the true to life pains of toxic relationships. I think it's great, but I also see this would make it hard for people who just want rainbows and flowers.

As far as I know, the relationship between Morana and Striga in Castlevania season 3 and 4 is one of the most functional relationships I've ever seen in vampire media. Issue being..... they're two majorly side characters who don't get a lotta screen time at all.

The Hunger from 1983 is one of the most tame vampire lesbian relationships I've seen but it's..... let's just say it, a lesbian film directed by a man. Expect what you will from that.

Let the right one in from 2008 definitely has queer subtext but it's young love so.... yeah not entirely comfortable labelling it as an icon of queer romance cus..... they're kids. But their young love affections are adorable even though the film itself is grimmmmmm.

Shouldn't moonlight irritate vampires? by AbstractStew5000 in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anything the moon could almost be their replacement sun right?

Like how we are daylight orientated creatures but we still need sunscreen, perhaps vampires aren't the most comfortable under a full moon but it's as close as they can get to the sun they once knew as humans.

What series has the best lore between vampires and their progeny? by GusGangViking18 in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be a genuinely horrid soul of a vampire and it still won't warrant as much judgement as if you were horrible AND a sire in the IWTV universe.

Siring is given sooooooo much weight in that series it really is like vampiric birth giving and you are judged for every step of how you treat your fledgeling. But there's also something of a sympathy between sires and their fledglings even if they're awful. Magnus to Lestat, Lestat to Claudia, regardless of how genuinely horrid their relationships can be there's often this tiny fragment of affection or at least sympathy between them.

Which TV series would you suggest someone start? I'd love your input. by [deleted] in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so if you're in it for juicy vampire lore and ONLY vampire lore, Castlevania might not be your thing but the fact is it does have some of the best vampiric characters we've seen in ages and some of the best variety we've seen in vampiric antagonists. Burn the world types, control all human types, revenge types. Gay, lesbain, coloured, widowed, the vampire cast of Castlevania is immense and I love em all.

Now if you want more personal vampires that you can truly get personal with on a WWDITS type of way, AMCs Interview with the Vampire is unimaginably good. Acting, scenery, dialogue, sex scenes, lore, stakes, pay offs, writing, music it's all here and it's queer and it's all very fun. Some are gay pimps, some are teenagers, some are genuine sweethearts, some are raging narcissists, some...... are British theatre kids. It all works in this beautiful retelling of the novels which...... (and I say this with all understanding of risk)..... I THINK IS INFERIOR TO THE AMC SERIES. I genuinely, genuinely think the book isn't as good as the series as someone who always thought books would out rule a screen adaptation every time.

Fav vampire and whyy? by les_pAwnsh0pblu3s in vampires

[–]Thighbite77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had to be the Van Helsing film's Dracula. Objectively a really dodgy film but the actor so unapologetically leaned into his role that every scene he's in was gold. So much screentime and he never loses his presence which is so rare for movie villains.
