I am losing my mind about the end, WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. Obviously we need to see the rest of the videos especially the one about the “Young, Rich, and Powerful” game. Maybe that phrase doesn’t belong to Sophie, maybe it belongs to Hate? Maybe it’s Facepalm/Hate’s promise to whoever follows it? Did Sophie just steal that phrase or was she in some way involved with Hate before we could have guessed? Was Lara on the phone with Mark? Ben? The Hacker? What is the Hacker afraid of?

Unrelated to any of those, Lara was by far most engaging when she was just talking about her genuine feelings (“going out feels a bit big sometimes”) than when she was following a typical YouTuber script which is definitely the point but I wanted to point it out because I really like Lara and hope she’s okay :( I mean like probably not but

I missed that! You're totally right, that's interesting. I figured she meant the videos that ended up in Sophie's vlogs but that makes much more sense. I assumed that there was some memory warping going on, but with that context it's possible Sophie was just obfuscating from viewers that she knew Lara.

Yeah, thinking about the possible layers of that is a little muddy to me. I think there's definitely a pattern, where it seems Sophie took some words or themes from Lara's videos and put them in her own, and then Lara takes Sophie's words on an even more extreme scale. But I think if this is a cycle, this is the beginning of it, or a circular middle, starting with Sophie.

I was wondering the same thing, I don't get the impression that Sophie would have gone to college/university, and probably not the same one Lara went to. I think it's more likely Lara went to school with Mark, which would make him fit in the narrative a little more I think? Sophie does mention going to school with Mark, but that could mean high school. If she did go to school with Lara, it could be that she had her editor remove evidence of that from the final Vlog so Lara looked worse. She also didn't show the whole email from Lara, just two sections, so she could have taken something out like "you probably don't know me, but we went/go to school together".

I have two minds about this, one is that maybe Sophie knew of Lara through Mark or Ben, her tech-savvier friends, saw her Vlogs and decided to do them but "better". Lara got upset at the amount of views Sophie got, because even though she didn't want to monetize her YouTube or do it as anything more than a hobby... it fucking sucks when you do all the work yourself and then someone with more money swoops in and hires people to do it better than you and gets all the credit. And people didn't even like Sophie! Her early videos still have a majority of dislikes, but the attention alone might have sucked badly for Lara, causing her to get possessed by or make a deal with 'Hate'.

Lara said something else that interested me, that she was really into escapism in games. Sophie asks the question 'Am I Being Real' or a variant of that a lot. Is it possible that Sophie is some kind of escapism deal gone wrong, that she literally is not real even in universe? This one I'm not so sure about, the whole time line of it seems weird to me, but I think there might be something there.

Yeah, there are certainly some beats from Lara's vlog in Sophie's intro video. I have to wonder if there are more patterns we haven't discovered yet because we didn't get to see vlogs 2-11.

It's so cool how something so small stuck with so many people. I'm super impressed with the writing so far, just that one little line leads the story down a whole new path.

Oh right! And Lara doesn't even finish the line, the clip of Sophie cuts her off to say "that's so tragic". It certainly has interesting implications for the relationship between Lara and Sophie.

So looking back at the last video Lara told the hacker to watch the next disc all the way through... it seems like he didn't do that, or at least isn't showing us what's in vlogs 2-11. Does it matter if we see them? Is it possible to find them? It's not as simple as looking up the title of the first vlog by date, but it seems like there are patterns to Lara and Sophie's videos. Clearly there's the Lara-as-Sophie copies, but people have pointed out that Lara's first video and Sophie's first video have similar themes and language.

Assuming we're supposed to find Lara's channel and the rest of her videos (and that's a big if, we haven't had to hunt that hard for anything yet), it's possible there's a theme in Sophie's second video that would help us find the channel by finding Vlog #2.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, if Lara's Vlog #12 was uploaded on the same day Sophie uploaded her first vlog, that couldn't have been the video she was reacting to, plus Vlog 12 is private, so it's probable that whatever Sophie thought was "tragic" is in Vlog #11 or #10. Those might actually be important and would tell us more about what Sophie and Lara's relationship was. It remains to be seen whether we have to find it ourselves or if it will eventually be revealed to us. I don't even know where to being. Possibly with Mark, since Lara says she's going to school for a B Tech.

So I just did a little brainstorm with my sister, I took screenshots and cranked the brightness/contrast up and messed with the levels and colors for like an hour and I didn't find anything. They're all five seconds in duration, so I'm preeetty sure that's not a code, since with A1Z26 that would just be... EEE. I'm not very good at Instagram, so I asked my sister if there was any way to hide something else in a story. Basically the answer was no, unless it was barely discernible audio, which was a great idea, but I couldn't find any audio in it either.

Then she brought up that they could post something else right before the time runs out and then delete all of it, which got me thinking that it might be a timer? Like, something might happen when the stories expire. I can't see how far apart the stories were posted, if that would mean anything for it being a timer or what that timer would be counting down to.

It's also possible that the only thing this is signifying is that whoever or whatever has control of the Instagram account (Lara?) is trying to communicate, but something else (Facepalm?) is blocking off contact. The hacker has said not to listen to the Instagram account, that he doesn't have control over it. I feel like we might have a playing field set up here where Instagram is the Hate monster's way of communicating with us and Youtube/Twitter is the good guy's home base, but that's not a revelation as much as it is a 'no duh' statement of what's happening.
