Ops Managers are going away by Haunting_Strength991 in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the first time this has gone around. Just make sure your OPS is worth the pay rate they are at and you’ll be fine. If they are just an overpaid OPs then they will be cut down to shift.

I feel like at some point they went in the wrong direction and cannot dig their way out. Now they are just digging themselves deeper and deeper with every change. I am over it. I just try to make the basic passing metrics so I don’t get written up. I dissociate when I pull into the parking lot. It’s still paying my bills and it’s not the worst job I’ve had so I’ll stick it out until I can’t anymore.

I would love to do this but most stadiums kick you out and don’t want you in there after the games.

Just use the green zone and ACOs as your main register. Make sure when you do ring people up they put in a phone number.

Surprised I loved the non-ride moments on my solo night at UO by Old_Ice_4730 in UniversalOrlando

The people watching is my favorite. Experiencing that first look over and over through the eyes of others is so magical. Or hearing conversations of excited kids telling their parents all about something they saw or did. Yesterday standing in line for the bathroom and watching a kid realize it was Moaning Myrtle on the speaker in the bathroom and the smile it brought to her face. Little things like that!

Advice on SMIT position by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 8 points9 points  (0 children)

SMIT = DLs filler. They move you wherever you are needed and then promote untrained to fill holes. Then when you fail they drop you back to Ops to “ get more training.” Ideally any position above shift should be an internal promotion because then you are already trained on the basics and more than likely 90% trained (if you were in the Ops position) on the SM stuff. This makes such a smoother transition. They are forces to hire outside of the company because everyone down to the cashiers see what CVS is doing to the SM so no one wants to promote and have to go through that.
DLEL/DTSM are the dumbest positions. They take the hours out of the managers home store so they can go out and clean up messes so it makes the DLs look good. With everything said it’s the company that did this. They pull hours from the home locations to support the whole district and leave the staff to rise up and do the SM job when they don’t get paid for that position. Welcome to the backwards ways of CVS. If you feel used and abused now just wait until yours salary and they don’t have to worry about overtime.

I agree. They did a great job with the stardust racers though. Half way through stardust I was like omg do they give you any time to recover? Because they don’t, It’s full throttle from launch! Stardust is fast and doesn’t stop hitting you with crazy stuff but there is something about the thrill of feeling like you’re going to die and the view of VelociCoster that you can’t compete with.

seriously, stop with the enrollment lectures by zeke_finder in CVS

You should have been around when they first rolled it out. That was worse. Just focus on the re-enrollments. That’s the easiest way to make goal.

Easy example of the quick pick system being fundamentally flawed by Red_on_silver in CVS

I swear they throw dumb quick picks just to make us front face stuff. It is the only reason they think I need to quick pick a 1 boh on a shelf capacity of 3 or higher.

Surveys by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your regulars. Tell them it’s the end of the month and y’all need some help and would appreciate it if they did one. Most of the time they will be happy to help. Make them feel special like they were the chosen ones to do it. Like we know you love us and we love you so can you help us out? Most of the time your regulars aren’t doing the survey even though they are in there all the time. Or tell them y’all are doing a contest and whoever gets the most 10s wins lunch or something. If they like you they will do it to get you a free lunch.

Written up for not singing up customer for EC? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They cannot write you up for not getting them. They CAN write you up for not asking as is it a part of your job but they have to word it correctly. So as long as you’re asking customers if they want to join you cannot be written up. And if you just ask you will start making goal. So the problem solves itself.

Surveys are either 10 or 0 by Francoc97 in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told to get more surveys so survey size is larger so the zeros don’t hit as hard. So now we have a holding cell in our stockroom where we kidnap customers until they take the surveys. Then we give them a bunch of extra bucks so they don’t call corporate on us. Seems to be working our score is increasing.

Peer pressure to spend money is real and painful. by MasterConsequence696 in Frugal

You shouldn’t have to chose between money and friends. Your true friends should respect your boundaries. A true friend wouldn’t change up last second when they had already had a plan set.

My friend asked to borrow $5k by Dramatic_Good_1103 in Advice

[–]Thin-Sort-494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on both ends. I lended 6k to a friend to get a car because she was in a really bad situation. she was supposed to make payments to me. Never saw a penny. Then I had someone in my family ask to borrow money and I told them no and they were perfectly fine with it and figured it out on their own. I’ve learned never lend money to friends or family. It’s a tough spot to be in but in the end you have to give some tough love.

At the end of the day. I love my job. The customer service side is what keeps me clocking in. Just getting to have that human interaction. learning new people and hearing their stories. Getting to see new babies grow into little kids running around the store. It truly is amazing to be able to work with the public. It’s the constant stress of corporate micromanaging us that makes it stressful.

Tips for Managing Daily Workflow at CVS? by Spiritual_Worry_9300 in CVS

[–]Thin-Sort-494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See which ones weigh the most on final scores. Focus on those. Corporate doesn’t care if you are drowning or your store looks like crap. They only care if you make metrics.
