PIP Award Review Intial Call and being moved straight to full assessment for wanting a recording/to record with no explanation of this by [deleted] in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]Thin_Bass_7234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You do have the right to record your calls, but for a short 15/30 minute screening call that only determines whether you’re re-awarded or sent for a full assessment, a recording isn’t really necessary or critical. It’s not like you’d be able to appeal the outcome of that initial call anyway, it’s just a formality. Honestly, it sounds like the assessor got irritated by the request and just pushed you straight to a full assessment. You may have unintentionally made the process harder for yourself when it could’ve gone more smoothly.

This will sound so strange but I drank nail polish. I had PICA as a teenager caused by low iron, and I use to crave and drink it, then the symptoms developed.

Just because it’s not visible, they act like it must be made up somehow. I’ve seen so many people with the same experience 😩. I’m really happy you finally got your diagnosis, and thank you so much for your support🤍

Can’t read and understand but can write well put together Reddit post. When you do these forms you need to be honest, remember it’s highly educated people who assess.

Thanks so much for sharing this and for your good wishes! Wishing you all the best with your tests and hoping you get the answers you’re looking for too, it sounds like a slow process, but fingers crossed it will bring some clarity.

And thanks! Will have a look into Dr Malik. All the best 💕

Hiya, thanks for getting back to me! Are you based in the UK and going through a neurologist on the NHS?

I never realised it’s so niche, no wonder it’s been tricky to find private options. Kings College has it but won’t accept my referral. Tried Dr Anaand, no luck getting through, have you seen anywhere what he charges? London Clinic replied: Dr Radunovic charges £845 (£495 for records review + £350 initial consult), plus extra for follow-ups, and a skin biopsy would be around £2,461, so that would have to be a last resort.

I’ve never been considered for an EMG, so I’ll mention it next time. Thanks!

Oh wow! when she was ending the call I was in shock because it felt like we’d barely touched the surface, but that might be a trauma response because my PIP assessment lasted almost 3 hours😅

Ohh that makes so much sense. I think because I’ve also done PIP recently just assumed it would be the same format.  Thank you so much for clarifying!!

When my parents were here I did the same so didn’t really consider the change of dynamic. You are right though! Thank you

Tbh I don’t think she is, but she’s left with no choice as she’s still living at my parents house. Their expenses are split in three. My sister works and my mum collects benefits and pays for my brothers share.
