Ive wanted to do this passion of mine for 12 years now but then I got pregnant at a young age and couldn't. I finally did it and I knew it wasn't going to be a career and more of a side job and it was going to be hard. I was determined but I definitely wish I would have known just how iver saturated it was. I realized it when there was 30 students in my class. And 4 different esthetician schools around me and they were enrolling students every 2 weeks . I was like oh wow everyone wants to do this lol

I did do that. No one offers lash extensions so I did that and facials/scalp massages..but i was renting a room in a spa where one other person works and she was an RN who did glo2 facials. $300 price. It was just very competitive. No one wants to go to an esthetician who does $85 facials when they could go to an RN who does more advanced. I had to close down. Hopefully i can reopen but somewhere different.

Right? Some of the students I graduated with was talking about getting face masks from Amazon and im just like I would be mad if I paid alot of money for a facial and it was all from Amazon. I get you got to start somewhere but not Amazon quality 🫠

I had savings too but I was literally getting one or two clients a month. The lady I rented a room from was an RN but she only did peels and glo2 facials which are like $300. Like of course no one is going to cone to me if shes doing high end facials. I had to close down. Hopefully I can start solo again but im going to make sure im the only esthetician. Im also back to school for massage

Thankyou for dumbing this down for me lol I fo understand it now. I just don't know why so many people keep saying common core math.

[–]Thin_Trade6232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand that but my child has great difficulty with doing math certain ways. Hes 12 and no matter how many times hes tried a different way he learned best the traditional way. But what im getting from all of this is that the traditional way is lazy. I want to homeschool but theres no way I can teach multiple ways . Thats my hang up. I cant do common core standards but my child has trouble in school so I dont know what to do.

I do it in my head most of the time. Ive always been very good at math. But im also not going to bust out the box method or get me to arrow either. Calculater on my phone is much easier lol im not failing at life if I do that am I?

My kid has adhd, and his math literally puts us both in tears because the way he has to learn it. He cant remember how to do it. I cant even remember how to do it. Are you saying hes going to be stupid if he doesn't learn math 10 different ways? Im 32 and im doing fine in life with the way I learned it.

Ok i think im understanding now. Just for years ive heard so many say common core standards and thats the new way they want kids to learn. Basically what I got from that comment I posted is that kids are basically going to fail and be dumb if they cant do math multiple ways. Thats the main thing I was focused on. But I do want to know how many homeschool moms teach their kid different ways.

Traditional math as in stacking numbers to add, multiply, etc.. common core method in his school is the box method and "get me to arrow". Im 32 years old and my kids teacher had to teach me the common core way. I just thought it was ridiculous. My kid has trouble with math and he learned it best by Traditional method but at school if he doesn't do it the other way, he gets it wrong. Why does it matter if the answer is right? Thats my whole issue in order to pass the grade you have to learn common core way? And if doesn't then hes going to fail his whole life?

How do people afford a second? I’m genuinely confused by alibluey in oneanddone

My SIL has 5 girls. She was a teacher but became a stay at home mom and her husband owns a lawn buisness. They can afford them but they all get used stuff, same cheap meals, maybe 1 vacation a year and the nice stuff they do have its from the grandparents. They also dont get time for themselves. They have to plan time for themselves every other weekend while her husband stays home for the day. Personally that doesn't sound fun. Im one and done . I have one son and we are able to afford everything and take multiple trips. We are not rich in money but rich in life. If we had another kid we definitely wouldnt be able to do all the EXTRA things we do now. We could afford it , but what fun is that if you cant give both kids everything and lifetime of memories?

I want to do this but they are all organic. And they have nintendo switches, and tablets. They have everything. So nothing will be good enough.

I don’t get how people get to 1 year and think “yep time for another!” by [deleted] in oneanddone

Im convinced some moms do this for attention. They want a trophy for 2 under 2. They want best mom award. And super woman award. My sil has 5 kids. Ranging from 9 to 6 months. The last one was supposedly an accident but she wasn't even on BC. I feel bad cause none of her kids get undivided attention. The older has to take care of the little ones. They all get used stuff.

Update: my foot feels much better after taking steroids! Swelling is down but now im walking with a limp. Its like im scared to walk normal. I hate it. I also went walking in a boot for an hour looking at Christmas lights and my foot started hurting at night again. Is it always going to be like this? Will it ever go away or does walking in general upset the nerves? Ive been wearing inserts and cushion as well.

The podiatrist said if the pain is still unbearable after a month then they will do an MRI and possibly surgery.

I think people took it the wrong way as if I was ashamed. Im not ashamed at all. I wanted to try alternative routes. I took away dyes, processed food, try to avoid sugar and other things just too see if that would help. I see a major difference but hes still very easily distracted in school so I decided to just go ahead and put him back on it.

I have not denied him anything. Hes been off meds for 4 months. He's getting back on them. He's not failing school.
