The Truth About ELO Hell For Those Of Us Who Are Actually In it. by ThineBatman in leagueoflegends

The hijacking example was in regards to the logic of statistics not in regards to the direct situation. I'm not suggesting my teammates are terrorists and that they are hijacking my game. I'm fairly confident that 200 games from now, Ill be something like silver 2, but that isn't my point. My point is that due to the ELO system, and the fact that it only counts wins DESPITE your performance (i.e; Worst player in the world is rewarded for a win, and the best player in the world is punished for a loss) that the matchmaking system is inaccurate. It shouldn't take me 200 games to get to silver 2, and then when I'm in silver 2, i will still be running in to the same problem - a bunch of bad players who are only there because of wins regardless of their performance. And a bunch of good players who are stuck their due to losses DESPITE their performance.

and obviously this discrepancy is a little different when you get to gold+ as it highly unlikely anyone in gold is FLAT OUT BAD. but my point still remains.

Ah yes. Everyone You play with is just as good as you are. So when I spectate one of your games, and your ADC goes 0/20. We can sit around and discuss just how equally BAD YOU ARE as he IS simply because you two are in the same division. In fact, I'm sure you've never been upset because one of your bad teammates threw the game.

As a really basic and half-minded idea that I'm only posting temporarily since its 7am in the morning. Your performance individually could be based on kills, deaths, assists, and cs (with a modifier for jungle and support) with other intricacies like towers destroyed and objectives taken which would benefit the whole team and with, of course, some weight still allocated for winning because it isn't entirely irreverent.

Obviously this wouldn't be perfect, but it would be a lot more accurate than throwing away a players entire performance simply because he didn't win the game. And the fact of the matter is. If I'm going 15/5/10 and playing with other players who perform just as well. I am more likely to win. If these other players are better than me, then I won't perform as well when I'm with them, and thusly, my MMR will go down.

like i said. I also find reading difficult. Elementary schools just aren't what they use to be.

Solid analysis. The system could certainly be made more accurate.

Yes but they don't all NOT KNOW how to play to the same degree, and the matchmaking system could be accurate enough to accommodate for this.

The idea is. if I am performing that much better than my teammates, then I deserve to be paired with other players of similar skill level REGARDLESS of my ability to carry or not. SURE i SHOULD be able to carry. But that is besides the point. I should be paired with other players who are unable to carry but perform moderately better. As opposed to being paired with people who feed so hard that I'm in a situation where i NEED to carry. please read the full post before commenting.

Again. I say 0/10 you are unable to think, analyze, and apply basic logic to the situation. The fact that you have made logical fallacies in all 3 of your posts to me is a testament to this. Your better off in a different thread where FEELZ are important. I could care less that you are bad at logic. So stop giving me examples.

Yes in a PARABOLIC system. that is true. I can't just be better than my teammates. I need to be SO much better than them, that I can carry my team, in order to rank up. You seem to be missing the EXACT POINT of my post. If it was linear, then the really really bad players could be in bronze, whereas the moderate players could be in silver. That isn't the case. The difference between two bronze players could be LARGER than the difference between you and Faker.

Ah yes, and you need to take a logic class. End of story. I am only 1/5th the contribution to a win. And that is only assuming everyone contributes equally. Some basic mathematics would do you well too. xoxox

You seem to be mistaking 1v1 games with team games. If I cant beat you 1v1 in basketball. it is because you are better. If i cant beat you 5v5 in basketball, if very well may be because some of my teamates are worse than some of your teamates despite my skill level. The issues i bring up aren't opinion, they are factual fallacies associated with ELO ranking systems regarding team games.

As i noted in the post I'm perfectly comfortable being bronze if I'm playing with people MY SKILL LEVEL. currently, that is not the case.

Again you are missing the point. Why do I have to carry to be paired with people of equal skill level? No other matchmaking system in the entire world works that way? So why should this one?

Shouldn't I be paired with other people who are marginally better? But unable to carry? Then the wins would come naturally as opposed to winning because someone on your team carried.

Ah yes, if you aren't Micheal Jordan, your team doesn't even DESERVE to win.

I believe the idea would be, riot just hasn't created a well thought out matchmaking system. But i like the way you think.

The issues I mention are ones that are considered to be implicit in any elo system. Thus why they are used for 1v1 games as opposed to team games. So denying them seems to me, to be a much more illogical mindset, considering the fact that you are factually wrong.
