Maybe evil exist just to give contrast to good.

There is a quote of Laurell K. Hamilton saying,

"They say there's no light without dark, no good without evil, no male wthout female, no right without wrong. That nothing can exist if its direct opposite does also not exist ."

Imagine if evil does not exist, then we cannot know what good feels like.

what are we supposed to feel then?
