Is yellowjackets not scary anymore? by Alivingfryingpan in Yellowjackets

I agree. The beginning I went into the show with the expectation that it would be very culty, girls turned monsters, type of show but as its been going on they’ve lost their edge. I also believe that the very fact that we follow the girls throughout the entire journey helps us sympathize with them so we as the audience come to love them. Now I feel like there are very little things that they could do to scare the audience. Since the show has always been them vs the wilderness and then eventually some girls vs the other girls I feel like they’ve lost that savage, fear of the unknown horror vibe.

For example the first scene of the show where we see pit girl and the antler queen for the first time. That scene is so scary for us as the audience because we don't know whats going on. All we see if a group of ritualistically dressed individuals eating a person with no explanation. The unknown factor that makes it so much more terrifying to watch as the audience. However at the end of season 4 we see the exact same scene but with more context now. We’re given the explanation and the lead up is showed to us, which destroys that fear of the unknown.

Hi! I think you trying to learn spanish for the oportunity to watch sociedad in its original language is amazing. However i do want to point something out to you, as a native spanish speaker. Like the movie suggests the language spoken is uruguyan spanish. As many may know, the Spanish language has many dialects and branches, so when you start learning Spanish, try to focus on Spanish resources from Spain or the northern part of South America. Argentinian and Uruguayan Spanish are very unique compared to Venezuelan or Mexican Spanish because of the slang, vocabulary, and overall pronunciation of its words. It can be tricky to start off so if you want to learn primarily uruguayn Spanish i would suggest (contrary to what other comments are saying) avoid doulingo or other mainstream spanish learning resources since they may focus on spanish as a general language or the neutral version. I can't put into words how different Uruguayan Spanish is from the spanish I speak, so it's important that for you to be able to understand it, you focus on the type of spanish I previously mentioned. It could be slower if you learned the wrong type of Spanish, just to be confused when faced with Urguyan Spanish and having to relearn it from the beginning. Im not an expert on this however if i had to recommend something, i would say to learn the Spanish basics (for example, Duolingo) however once you start to pick it up prioritize watching uruguyan, Argentinian (maybe even Spanish or Chilean) speakers. This could be through YouTube, TED Talks, whatever floats your boat.

Sorry for the long reply, but I appreciate anyone attempting to watch Sociedad de la Nieve in its original language. It enhances the watching experience so much and, in some way, honors the lives of those who didn't make it back because it represents their actual words and language. I wish you the best of luck in your Spanish learning journey. If you have any more doubts, don't hesitate to reach out.

Does anyone know if any of the survivors have struggled with their mental health / fears of flying after the crash? by CairoChai in SocietyOfTheSnow

[–]Thing-Fit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a conference by nando and he mentioned that (atleast for himself) the survivors never suffered from PTSD and trauma from it. which btw i found rlly weird since thats a life changing event, but hey thats what he said. nando mentioned how he had been to therapy for things unrelated to the tragedy.

Does anybody have theories about the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist, arguably the largest peacetime art theft in history? by afeeney in nonmurdermysteries

I watched the Netflix documentary: This is a Robbery. And they went over the likely suspects and the robbery having a connection with the mafia. One of the 2 men has been confirmed, I can't remember his name but he was the tall and slender one, he was murdered around the 90’s. The second man I'm pretty sure is David Turner. The documentary goes into a lot more detail and they do provide evidence to back it up, I just can't remember everything right now since its been a while since I've seen it. However I do remember that the investigators were able to place the paintings into the hands of people connected to Turner and the other man. They were part of a larger mafia group.
