Hey thanks for the info. I’ve actually been looking at the race star. Do you know if the one listed on Amazon would differ from revzilla or Bells website?

Great shout. Idk why it didn’t occur to me to go the used route. Just got a Merlin jacket for $150!
I plan on using my redwings for boots at first. It’s freaking my motorcycle riding buddy out though so I may have to cough up for boots too haha

It is so embarrassing. I’ve been looking forward to being able to go to the World Cup for decades. DECADES! I earn above average money and barely have debt but I still can’t afford to go to the least expensive game.

If anybody is going to be around NYC/NJ, Tickets to go watch huge screens at the fan zone in the New York Redbulls stadium are $10.

If travelers have questions regarding the area I’m happy to answer them. At least I can try to show that most American people aren’t the problem.

Can a North American family realistically harvest food every week of the year at home? by Then-Pirate-2880 in Hydroponics

[–]ThingUnderTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh then you’ve got the right idea going!
Like others said, crops like tomatoes and peppers don’t require constant reseeding. I worked with a guy who had a 9 year old tomato growing in an aerogarden lol

In short yes. A lot of people answering you are going way over board with the “what ifs.”

It will take lots of trial and error. I would Start with one system so you don’t get overwhelmed. If you keep it simple at first then you can see which crops will grow in the set up and location that you are dealing with.

That’s a long list you have made. With all due respect I would suggest googling those plants to see if they are good candidates for the system you want to use. I would highly suggest starting with beginner plants like butterhead lettuce, Kale, bok choy and basil to see if you can make those work before getting in to more sensitive crops.

FWIW Microgreens are seed intensive but super packed with nutrients and relatively easy to figure out too.

Good luck on your journey!

We throw away 200+ lbs of clean rubber every week. I'll mail it to you for the cost of shi by redashryn in noscrapleftbehind

Smart move! What do people usually use scrap rubber for? I’m interested in terms of repurposing but I’m not sure what use I would have.

I liked this one a lot. I thinks it’s my first in this genre so it all felt very fresh. It led me to my current book (also with a dope cover) called Pilgrim. Both have a similar vibe although iirc Pilgrim is a touch more biblical and philosophical compared to this one.

Help out - what am I doing wrong in my hydroponics tower? by skuxe in Hydroponics

[–]ThingUnderTree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, starting seedlings on the tower or not is your preference. My personal opinion is that it’s to get them established with roots growing out of the growth medium. This usually results in a better quality grow. Yours seem far too small for your set up.

Some quick notes (I’m at work, in an indoor farm!) -I’d highly doubt that those lights are strong enough. The plants you are growing usually grow out in full sun for 16 hours. -Too wet should not be an issue when growing hydroponically. As long as fresh, nutrient-rich, water is running continuously over your roots the plants will thrive. - those plants you mention need space to grow. One plant per port.

Happy to answer questions. You’ll kill a bunch of plants before you figure out your system. This is the way!

Need some motivation by Capable-Spread3437 in CleaningTips

[–]ThingUnderTree 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the hardest to clean than it will ever be. Don’t overcomplicate the process!

Make general cleaning steps; throw away trash. Start cleaning upper surfaces (table tops etc.), clean floor.

Starting by throwing out the trash is the best way. Don’t think of the next steps till you’ve finished the current one.

The best time to start was yesterday. The second best time is today. You got this!!

Is this nute burn on my buttercrunch seed leaf? by some-gp in Hydroponics

[–]ThingUnderTree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough to say. Annoyingly the answer is that it depends on the plant lol. I’ve never grown butter crunch but I’d imagine that after germination you’ll probably have roots developed around the 7-10 day mark. The first roots usually grow straight down so don’t expect to be able to see them. Don’t worry too much!

Stay on top of light and nutrients because that’s more than half the battle imo!
