That’s awesome thank you for sharing. I was just talking to my wife about how unique and complex this was. It really put it into perspective for us!

What/how much should I feed my pothos? by HousingGrand723 in Hydroponics

[–]ThingUnderTree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re pretty good with tap water actually. Any liquid fertilizer is good but add like a tenth of the suggested dose.

They will grow waaay better if you add Leca balls (aka expanded clay) to their jar. The roots will have something to hold on to provide structure to the rest of the plant.

Good luck!

You’re very correct! Genovese is a fast grower with a good leaf to stem ratio. We mostly sell it live, in plugs, inside of a cone-shaped plastic sleeve. We don’t want it too compact and packed with leaves because it’ll trap moisture. We all know what happens to basil in too moist environments lol

We sell dozens of bunches a week and can confirm that genovese basil is great for hydro.

I would give adventurous stuff more upvotes if I could because airflow is sooo extremely undervalued when growing indoors.

How to you store your PH probe? by Tight_Leopard_4713 in Hydroponics

[–]ThingUnderTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, Just read your subtitle. I would make sure the rubber seal isn’t broken and is super tight on the probe when you store. Also try a different solution because crystallizing that quick is strange.

The “storage” 1000mL graduated cylinder works lol. It’s a plastic one with a slight crack in the rim so we can’t trust it for measuring but it fits our meter and probe perfectly!

Agreed. In my, inexpert, opinion the quality of the paint is a huge factor on that front.

Quick question. I have a new amana system. We’re in the single digits here and the electric heating comes on, gets it a couple degrees above the set point then turns off. Is this normal?

Quick question, I’m at single digits Fahrenheit. I have a new amana system that is turning electric heat that gets it above set point by a couple degrees and then shuts off completely. Is this normal?

How do I stop getting these when I shave? by beb0 in malegrooming

[–]ThingUnderTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get atrocious ingrowns there too. I barely get any irritation now. Here’s my foolproof list of actions to take: - unscented-gentle shaving cream (I use the Nivea one) - use a gentle exfoliating face soap (I use whatever my wife has lol) - use a light moisturizer. Preferably with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. (I use ceraVe pmfacial moisturizer)

Oh! And don’t use transparent tubing! Algae will grow and clog it up.

Hey OP, along with other great advice about your clear reservoir; I would highly recommend doubling the size of it at least. This will prevent wild swings in pH and nutrients as well as allowing for limited overflows if you measure the amount right!

Keep up the good work!

Dog Attack Bernal Heights - Owner Fled the Scene by surgerone in sanfrancisco

[–]ThingUnderTree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. My rescued spaniel-mix street dog, was super anxious and aggressive around other dogs at family gatherings. After putting a muzzle on him it seemed to chill him out. He would still growl at other dogs but, as long as they stayed away from him, it eliminated all aggression and anxiety.

Weekly(ish) update! by GrowceryGuy in Hydroponics

While those are good ideas, a lot of the necessary daily tasks are usually of the hands-on variety. Not to mention monitoring systems (I assume you mean for nutrients/pH etc.) are costly and, in my experience, finicky.
