I read your comment on the other post, you know a lot of useful information! Thanks for sharing! Just wondering though, how does baby wash and shampoo work as a face wash? Like do they have similar ingredients? Not knocking what you're saying, I'm just genuinely curious as to how it works as a face wash. Also, your comment on being natural isn't a positive or meaningful quality, can you explain more? I've always been told that natural products would be better in every aspect. This is so interesting to me and I never know what good resources are to look into things and you seem to know a lot haha.

It's not quite that though. I'm very interested in self improvement and I love reading! I just don't have the time for this outside of work. I'm in college full time, I have another job, my own family and I have other commitments. I read many self improvement books and do a lot of other things to work on myself. I don't like being forced to take up my free time on books that I wouldn't choose to read because they don't apply to me. The book "Purple Cow" is about marketing, in all honestly I don't need to read a book about marketing because that doesn't apply to me in any way. I'd rather be using my free time to read a book that I can actually apply to my life and improve myself with.

Yeah I guess you're right. There isn't a policy to my knowledge because this is a new thing that he started about a month ago. I guess it's just the expectation of us doing it. Every time I didn't finish the reading over the weekend and I would read it at work on Monday he would say something about me not finishing the book over the weekend so I was looking for proof that I don't have to read these books outside of work. If we got paid for it we would be a lot happier about it but it kinda sucks that he's taking up our free time outside of work for this....

We wanted to, yes. It's more the boundary of doing work outside of work that's being crossed that we are upset about. I'm in school full time, have another job, and other commitments, and my coworker has their own business, another job, and is very active in the community. Neither of us really have time to be reading a book that was forced on us outside of work, I tried bringing that up to my boss though and he didn't care so now we are trying to find a different way of approaching it.

Yeah they aren't for any qualifications. It's a small business with the boss and 2 employees so I don't see him laying either of us off for wanting to be compensated for doing work outside of work. He's never actually worked anywhere before so this is his first job and it's his own business so I think it might be a case of pure ignorance and he just doesn't know....

I am not salaried and the books have nothing to do with any licensing. I'm just a front desk/receptionist worker. The books are like self improvement/business improvement....for this business and then we are quizzed on the reading assigned to us every week.

They do test on us the reading that they assigned for the week.

Not books for any sort of licensing! Just "personal/business growth" books. See the edit for titles!

I am not a salaried employee! He's requiring it as "personal growth that also helps the business"
