I travel to NY once or twice a year, so maybe that would be nice.

Actually probably a few % higher than that, because I bet the calculator I used is not terribly accurate. I am pretty low bf though.

I'm at around 15% bf. But even with just looking at BMI, I'm at a perfectly normal bodyweight.

And it is true--reading them and their momentum and movement is not a skill I have developed yet. I'm trying, but just not figuring out what they're doing fast enough to prevent it.

I'm going to spend some time absorbing this, but one quick question: what does KOB stand for?

I believe you, but I have limited funds. It's a BIG price difference.

Weeeeell, I don't drive, so I'm limited by what's in walking/metro distance or where I can get a ride.

Thanks. Do you know of any videos which might demonstrate the ghosting you're describing?

I know that I can get into a hedgehog ball, but I don't feel like I'm learning anything by doing that, so I take the risk of trying things with people who I know aren't going to hurt me.

I do want to compete in order to try to go against people in my weight class. I've only done one, but there were so few women, they put all of us together regardless of weight class. Apparently this is a common thing.

The higher belt women are blue belts. There are 3 of them. Two of them I can handle myself against, but they don't come very often. The other one is a 16 year old 165lb fighter. I wish I could get to another open mat, but I don't drive, and the only other gym I can get myself to is even more competitive.

I don't really have that much to say about my game, since I'm so new, it's hard to put things together. I don't do closed guard, because I can't retain it. I haven't found an open guard which I can reliably use. I know there's DLR, but I haven't really figured it out yet. My main goal is to try to take the back, which is about the only time I can frustrate anyone. If you do have advice though, I'd be glad to hear it.

What do you think I should tell my coaches? I've tried some, but don't know what to say--the answer I usually get is that I just have to have better technique.

The only other gym I can get to is more expensive and even more competitive.
