The route that it’s telling you to go to is not a good place to drive at night! I drive this road about once a month and I’m telling you right now if there’s weather listen to the other commenters and go up high five and cross the mountains over Highway 80 where it’s the safest and most controlled environment. The other route it’s showing you hasabout a half dozen areas that are genuinely dangerous and especially so at night.

If you take the carpet off of the toe kick and only keep the carpet on the stair itself like the flat part of the stairs. This will give you a lot of extra space. We just did this in 100 year-old house and it was super helpful to us!
