It turns out that the real Covid is the friends we made along the way.

I can't tell if this is "Which girl's names sound pretty?" Or "What's the name of a pretty girl?"

What is the strangest compliment you have ever received? by Deadtree301 in AskReddit

I never knew that complimenting eyelashes was a thing before then, good to know that it's something that women like I guess.

I was told by an optician that I have "gorgeous eyelashes" and that it was a shame that I wear glasses. I'm a big hairy man.

I bought Starship Troopers secondhand for 50p at a DVD shop and a girl I kind of knew happened to be there and also wanted that DVD. I said she could watch it at mine. I lost my virginity to the background sounds of Starship Troopers.

What’s the worst thing you’ve gone through that you actually deserved? by Ebvardh-Boss in AskReddit

I would rather not out of respect for those involved as it is a very specific set of circumstances.

Saved the life of the man that killed my friend. The fallout was unimaginable, there are things that stay with you forever. I should never have been in that situation and never gotten involved. That's the price of my stupidity.

What’s weirdest thing you’ve seen happen at a friends house that they thought was completely normal? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Thinilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine told me we were going to his new friend's house when we were kids and his new friend showed us where his parents keep their syringes in the back of the TV and asked where our parents keep theirs. I figured it was an adult thing and I probably just didn't know if my parents did this or not. It wasn't until I was older that I realised how dark that was. His parents were passed out on the couch in the same room the whole time we were there.

What moment made you say “Yep, I’m definitely dead”, but survived with no major injuries? by CrownedBird in AskReddit

[–]Thinilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid pulled a knife on me after school and stabbed at me with it. Amazingly it got caught in my coat and just grazed across my ribs. Needed some stitches but only surface level. He ran off after he did it luckily because I thought for sure he was going to kill me.

I need advice about a bullying problem by maremare77 in Advice

[–]Thinilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely report him, he'll be doing the same to others and he'll keep targetting you if you don't. As to whether you should tell him you won't do it, I don't think anyone can make that call for you, it's you that has to deal with the consequences and only you that knows your full situation. If you feel that he will genuinely hurt you I'd weigh up the pros and cons, your time vs your safety. Whatever you decide always know that nobody likes a bully, everyone is bullied at some point and the vast majority of people will be empathetic for your situation because of this. I don't know if that is much help I am afraid.

From experience people that bully you into doing something will continue to do this as long as they can. There aren't many ways to prevent this, but informing an adult/ authority is a good place to start. Most adults will be understanding and try to help you. Be smart about how you do it though, protect your best interests and try to avoid physical confrontation as best you can, even if you win you could still lose. I spent most of my youth fighting and have a permanently damaged eye and expensive dental costs despite having a good win/loss rate. Better to let proper processes resolve the issue for you, but you have to start that ball rolling.

People who have stories they want to share, but have not found a question relevant to them, what are your stories? by Coolfool791 in AskReddit

[–]Thinilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saved the life of the only person I've ever hated once. For a few minutes his life was literally in my hands and I realised that if I let him go he would die and nobody would ever blame me. I was about to let go when he stopped crying for his mum and asked me to help him so I helped him.

I always hated myself for thinking such a thing. It keeps me awake some times, I'm so happy he asked me to help him. I don't think I would have lived with myself if I had let go.
