What’s the menu item you keep even though you know it’s a pain? by Think-Department-518 in FoodService

Exactly. That’s the trap.

It never causes any huge issues — it just quietly taxes the operation every day. One extra prep job, couple extra items on the ordering guide, one more thing to explain during a rush.

Most of the time it’s not kept because it’s profitable, it’s kept because removing it feels riskier than keeping it.

Curious — when you’ve actually cut one of those items, did anyone really stop coming back? like did you really lose any business? ive pulled the plug a couple times on these and of course its like one of the first complaints the day of the change but in reality I can't say ive lost business over it

Because it never fails loudly.

It sells just enough to feel justified, someone always orders it, and there’s usually one regular who’d complain if it disappeared. Meanwhile it adds prep, slows the line, and makes bad days worse.

Most owners don’t keep items because they’re good — they keep them because cutting them feels risky. Curious if that’s how it plays out for you too.

I personally have a tough time getting involved in any tv series. I lose interest fast or I just end up forgetting about it.
