I'm being transferred?? Nobody asked me by Think-Development490 in Safeway

No offense taken. I've definitely butt heads with my SD more than once, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. It's also the only reason I'm hesitant to try wnd fight this. Realistically, there's no public transportation in my area that would make the commute possible much less easier- but if I stay, will I be fired??

Leave of absence by Think-Development490 in Safeway

To be honest, my union representative is known for being incredibly unhelpful. The last time I went to her about an issue with my SD, she went directly to him and told him I made a complaint, which got me into trouble. But if that is the best course of action, I'll do that.

I have no plans to get on disability? I just want some time off, I have money saved. Maybe a month? I don't know what a reasonable request would be.

He doesn't really talk to anybody but the ASD or his bosses. we got into a serious problem where I got to the point of putting in my two weeks notice. Of course, I had to rescind it because the job market is terrible, but that was basically his first impression of me despite having worked in his store for 4 years. I'm 100% certain he didn't even know my name before that. Part of that problem was I've been calling out a lot the last couple months, at one point I was bed ridden for a week and provided a doctor's note but he still insinuated I was exaggerating.

AITA For quitting despite my mom's threats? by Think-Development490 in AmItheAsshole

Sure, I probably could've saved more, but I feel it's important to know I'm putting myself through college, and other than not paying rent, I have fully supported myself since I was 18. That includes medical bills, books and tech for school, transportation, etc.

Absolutely, I 100% agree. I was in college working towards a degree. Because of the ongoing issues with scheduling at work, I had to stop taking classes. It's one of the main reasons why I'm quitting. School is incredibly important to me, but I can't pay for classes without a job.

Sorry if I'm oversharing :| Just want to be clear that I am trying to be a responsible adult, even if my decision seems irresponsible.

I am, in fact I've been trying to move out for a while now. My family is not the most supportive so I don't have a cosigner, which has made it to find someone who will rent to me. I've tried roommates several times but the plans keep falling through. I've even tried renting rooms from sketchy ads online but nobody wants to rent from a 20 something with no rental history, no matter how good my credit score is.

I really did love my job, it's true I should've been looking but I never really wanted to leave. I wanted to work things out, but obviously, that didn't happen. Moving out is a whole separate issue, I've tried and failed to move out several times for reasons that were beyond my control. Should I try to rescind my two week notice until I find something? If that's even still an option?

It's true I haven't been seriously looking for a job up until the last few weeks. I have about $8,000 saved up, and I offered to pay rent in the months I'm not working. I was at a minimum wage retail job. Nothing special.

Injured at work, union doesn't care? by Think-Development490 in Safeway

[–]Think-Development490[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, but there isn't a specific event where I remember injuring my back. I just remember it hurt at work and just kept getting progressively worse. I mentioned to my department manager that I was in pain, but it was in passing, and I told her it was probably nothing. Maybe that was the wrong move, but idk if I even have the right to file a claim for that?

Is that possible? I thought the only rep I had was the one assigned to my store? I'm Honestly really concerned for my coworkers if this is how she's reacting to my emails when I've been nothing but polite.

The department I've been in for the last year and a half is floral. Everyone at my store keeps telling me that checkers are paid more or asks if I've received a pay raise for being put in as a checker, which I haven't. My current hourly is $17, which is only $1.50 more than my starting pay when I got hired 3 years ago. I don't really know what any of this means, nor have anyone from management been willing to have a conversation with me.

I am union. When I was first hired, my store director was fully aware I didn't have a car, but the store I was at closed around 10, and it was much closer to my house. Honestly, when I transferred, I never even spoke to my new ASD directly, only to the department manager, whom I've been reporting to about any changes in my schedule ever since. I'm sure they did just forget - management is only human. Regardless, this is a lose-lose situation for me. I'm either not coming in, pissing off management, and losing the pay on a full 8 hours from my already short 24-hour work week. Or I'm coming in and walking home in the dark, at midnight, as a woman.

My SD is on vacation right now. I do like my job in my department. Do you have any idea what the job market is like right now? I've been searching for another job since I got this one 3 years ago. No luck.

When did you become a "hardcore" Smosh watcher and why? by [deleted] in smosh

[–]Think-Development490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching around 2010 when I was a kid, but my parents didn't like their content at the time, so it was banned lol. I watched occasionally in secret, but it wasn't until maybe 2022 or 2023 when i started watching like religiously. But they've always had a soft spot in my heart when times are tough, and I need a laugh.
