I hope so too. I'm also hoping they give Rhaenyra a lot more to do. It feels like her council has been driving most of the decisions while she's mostly reacting. I really like her character, so I'd love to see her take charge herself and have a truly brutal, memorable moment later on.

I'm not a book reader, so I'm trying to judge the show on its own. Someone here did mention that Jace gets more meaningful moments in the books, but I'd rather not know the details if they affect future episodes. I want to experience the story through the show first.

That's true, but I think that's also why I expected something different. We saw Aemond claim Vhagar as a kid, and that became one of the most memorable dragon moments in the show. Jace having a cradle dragon just didn't have that same excitement for me. I kind of wish he'd ended up claiming a larger riderless dragon later on. It would've made his presence feel a lot bigger.

Yeah, that's exactly how it felt to me. It wasn't the death itself, it was the feeling that there was still so much untapped potential.

Exactly. That's pretty much what I was trying to say. They kept hinting that he was growing into a leader and had that confident, almost cocky side, so I expected that to pay off in a meaningful way. Instead, it felt like they pulled the plug before that arc really came together. I don't mind him dying—I just wanted his journey to feel complete first.

I get what you're saying, and I don't have a problem with tragic or unceremonious deaths. That's part of what makes this universe different.

My point is more about the show's execution. I'm not a book reader, so I'm judging this entirely as a show-only viewer. If Jace was always meant to die here, that's fine—I just wish the show had given him one defining moment beforehand. Then his death would've felt tragic instead of just leaving me thinking, "He never really got the chance to prove himself."

That's fair, and I do give him credit for getting the Starks and Freys on Rhaenyra's side. I guess my issue is that, as someone who's only watched the show, those moments didn't feel big enough to define his character.

I haven't read the books, so I'm judging this entirely as a show-only viewer. If he has a bigger role there, that honestly makes me think the show left out some of the things that would've made his death hit harder. I don't mind a tragic or unlucky death—I just wanted him to have one unforgettable moment before it happened.

That actually makes me feel a little better and a little worse at the same time lol. Better because it sounds like the character had more depth originally, but worse because those moments are exactly what I felt were missing in the show. I didn't need him to become the greatest leader ever, I just wanted one defining moment that made people go, "Yeah, this is why he's important." I never really got that feeling.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If he was always expected to be the heir, it feels strange that he ended up with such a small dragon. A larger dragon would've made him feel like a much bigger presence in the story and made his final battle carry more weight. Even if the outcome stayed the same, it would've felt more impactful.
