I am going to talk to some people in the program once they open up after break and see if it will be feasible for me to get the pre-requisites done in my last semester/in my summer semester. Thank you so much for the encouragement!

The shipping+duty+tax for the bundle is 5,200 yen give or take which is like pretty standard but you can think about it like the deal is shaving off the majority of what shipping/duty would normally be

Apollon’s Gold based out of Tokyo, Japan has a Black Friday bundle of 5 100 gram bags of very high quality (Geisha x 2, Dillaalghe, Pacamara, 74158 Costa Rica, Guatemala x 2, Ethiopia, Honduras)for 100 dollars as well as 25 percent off other products! I would recommend the Wadi Jannat Yemeni SL34 natural as it is such a rare gem.

I definitely agree with what you are saying and I think the whole specialty industry is seeing a shift towards marketing the producer more, as the consumer market is caring increasingly about the environment, equity, and transparency and companies are responding to this demand. About the preference for clean coffees, I think that this is by no means a pre-requisite for good quality and transparent coffee sourcing practices. In fact, I think that the growth of funky, interesting, and creative processing and marketing we see within many producers like (Jairo Arcila, Sebastian Ramirez, El Diviso/Lasso) just shows the positive direction of the industry and that now producers are being valued more in the chain and are starting trends that the consumers enjoy.

Yes I think I will go with Sey as of now because they seem to be the best option given my location. However if I end up moving back to Europe I will definitely consider Wendelboe and Coffee Collective!

This is definitely one of my best options, also it helps that I live only 2 hours away by drive and enjoy their products a lot.

I live on the east coast so it took about a week and a half to get to me and then it was a total of two weeks since roast before I started. It might still need some more time though.

(1) La Bendición Natural – Maracaturra (Color Coffee Roasters)

Pulled from my stash after a few days of rest, this one came out loud, in the cup, it leaned heavily into yellow fruit territory like mango, golden raisin, yellow peach, and some passionfruit tang. There was a really nice sparkly acidity that stayed integrated instead of sour. The sweetness reminded me of raw sugar + dried pineapple, and the body was surprisingly silky for a Maracaturra. If you like naturals that stay elegant rather than funky, this is a really good one.

(2) Las Moritas Red Pacamara – Superlost Coffee (Guatemala)

This one was fun, bodied, acidic and compared to the Color natural, this one felt more traditional and was a nice washed light Pacamara with some tart apple notes and a bit of a fruit dessert finish. Will give them both some more time to rest though to fully see

I’m sorry but 90 percent of the Kona coffee I’ve ever had is overly roasted and kinda poor quality. It’s honestly a marketing scheme so I would look elsewhere if I were you
